Free family fun in Hayward today! Please let friends and family know about the event. This one is nice because it features our own lodge band playing Beatles an...d Beach Boys music, the excellent Fault Line Blues Band, and also the award-winning Mt. Eden High School Choir! This is a family-friendly event. The Hayward Odd Fellows Summer Concert Series continues Sunday September 22 from 1-5 pm with Blues, Beach Boys & Beatles songs featuring Fault Line Blues Band with the Sycamore Beach Beatles and Mt. Eden High School Choir members performing at Hayward Memorial Park, 24176 Mission Blvd., (in the outdoor amphitheater behind the Plunge Swim Center). Bring a lawn chair or blanket for lawn seating. This event is free there is no admission charge. Donations for food and beverage benefits the Mt. Eden High School Choirs www.mehschoirs.org with Celebrity Chef City Council Member Francisco Zermeno. A birdie tells me there will be BBQd french sausages and nachos, among other things. There’s lots of parking, a nearby tot lot, and nearby tennis courts and hiking trail. Meet Philip Liang. The Mt. Eden High School Alumni Association named this valued volunteer as their 2019 "Heart of Hayward." Philip Liang has demonstrated a fie...rce loyalty to his high school alumni association and has stepped up to serve as a board member. With Philip's loyalty and perseverance has come a slew of creativity, including his design of the alumni association's membership brochure and all-class reunion banner. He has consistently lent his organizational skills and positive attitude to Mt. Eden High School visits and other events of the alumni association to further support current and past students. Philip W. Liang (c/o 1990) has been nominated as the Mt. Eden High School Alumni Association’s Volunteer of the Year! He has demonstrated fierce loyalty to the alumni association and has stepped up to serve as a board member, never having served on a board of directors before. He dove in as the only guy to be surrounded by a board of directors full of strong women! With Philip's loyalty (and perseverance) has come a slew of creativity with his design of the alumni associatio...n's membership brochure and all-class reunion banner, with an artistic perspective casting his vote on which Mt. Eden High School students will receive our association's art scholarships. His creativity goes as far back (and maybe even further) than designing the yearbook cover for the Class of 1990, the year he graduated from his beloved Mt. Eden High School. He has consistently lent his organizational skills and positive attitude to Mt. Eden High School visits and other events of the alumni association to further support of the students. Philip is an architect at ODS Architecture in Emeryville and his work has been recently featured on the cover of Marin and in the Residential Design publications. He received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, which included studies in Italy. Born in Guang Zhou, China, he speaks Cantonese & Mandarin. He enjoys photography, the Warriors, he loves world travel, he skis, he hikes at Coyote Hills and Dry Creek and he loves eating ramen & drinking wine and lager -- and he still makes time to volunteer. Sorry ladies, Philip is taken! He lives in Union City with his gorgeous wife and young daughter...
