Each initial evaluation with my athletes begins with explaining some of the principles of osteopathy. These principles help to guide the ultimate goals of treatment and how to work with someone with your intervention, whether it be with your hands, a movement intervention, or nutritional aspect. The goal is always to honor that the body is ultimately the smartest in the room and the only one that actually does the healing.... As the practitioner I am just simply the technician, or the tinkerer. I simply help to restore movement to the organs, musculoskeletal system and fluid to allow for the self-regulating, self-defense, and self-healing functions of the perfectly made organism to run its course. Archimedes found that we could move BIG objects with small forces. You just need to stand in the right place. For me, that is with my black family, friends, athletes, colleagues, neighbors, and strangers.... I see you. My empathetic heart and soul feel you. And I am with you. I stand with you and together we can move the world. I will continue to do the work to uncover the veil of racism I was raised under, and examine and understand my white privilege. I will have the uncomfortable conversations with you and with any one ready to dig deep and talk. If we can’t change the fulcrum point we will change the lever, by taking a stand together. #blacklivesmatter

Perhaps my best kept secret is my swelling reduction protocol. Over the years it has completely shocked athletes who are used to injury swelling persisting especially as they continue to practice and participate in games. As sports healthcare professionals we all know how detrimental that can be and how it can lead to even more injuries. As a joint swells the proprioceptors lose there sensitivity and the stabilizing muscles become inhibited.... It is IMPERATIVE that we reduce the swelling after an injury and prior to returning to play, which means you need to bring your A game to swelling reduction. I’ve had multiple NFL athletes with grade 2 and 3 ankle sprains told by their team physician and AT staff that they would be out for minimum 2-4 weeks because of the degree of swelling and injury, literally walk in the next day to practice after working with me and have little to NO swelling and then play that week. The body is absolutely amazing in its capacity to heal itself. We just need to learn how to listen to it and facilitate these essential rhythms.
