Each Wednesday in May, as part of National Water Safety Month, the City of Mountain View Recreation Division will highlight a new water safety tip. As many children (and adults!) have been away from the water for over a year, it’s more important than ever to practice being a safer swimmer.

Join the City of Mountain View for online or in person application assistance. In-Person Help w/ Rent Relief Applications and Vaccination Appointments... City staff is hosting a joint event in coordination with the County of Santa Clara Public Health Department, the Community in Action Team (CAT), the Community Services Agency and Project Sentinel to help people sign-up for COVID-19 vaccines and emergency rent relief programs and learn about COVID-19 eviction protections. Bilingual (English/Spanish) support will be provided. May 13 4 to 7 p.m. City of Mountain View Senior Center Webinars City staff are hosting tenant and landlord webinars with Project Sentinel and the Community Services Agency of Mountain View and Los Altos to help Mountain View residents learn about and apply for emergency rental assistance programs including Housing Is Key, the State’s CA COVID-19 Rent Relief Program and the City of Mountain View's COVID-19 Rental Relief Program. Tenant webinars are bilingual in English and Spanish. Test eligibility includes anyone who lives, works or goes to school in Mountain View. Testing is by appointment only, offered on Wednesday, October 28 inside of Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts Rehearsal Studio located at 500 Castro Street (entrance located between Library and back of the MVCPA) from 8:30 a.m. 4:20 p.m. To schedule your appointment online through El Camino Health, visit elcaminohealth.org/COVIDtestMVDowntown You may also call 650-940-7022 and select option 4 to schedule your free test. NEXT WEEK: Temporary Public WiFi Disruption The free public outdoor Wi-Fi, MVwifi, along Mountain View’s downtown corridor, primarily Castro Street, will be temporarily unavailable from Tuesday, Oct. 27 through Thursday, Oct. 29. That’s due to the need to disconnect the network equipment while crews repair the roof on City Hall. The City appreciates the public’s patience during this temporary inconvenience. The City has partnered with Google in providing the free Wi-Fi service in publicly accessible areas to reduce the digital divide in the city.

We can expect h...ot temperatures along the coastline through tomorrow, Saturday, October 17, 2020. Cooler temperatures are anticipated later this weekend and into next week. The City of Mountain View will open the Community Center located at 201 South Rengstorff Avenue from 1:00 pm 7:00 pm today, Friday, October 16, 2020 through tomorrow, Saturday, October 17th as an air conditioned cooling center open to the public to find shelter from the heat.
