Feel Good Friday!! Many of you have seen our Motor City Mutt, Lexie, but you may not know how she came to be our mutt. In 2018, our social media coordinator, Mercedes, was at a baseball game at Bakersfield College. The sweetest white husky was there getting belly rubs from anyone who walked by. As the game ended and everyone left, Mercedes noticed no one was taking the dog home. After learning the dog was a stray, she was lured into the car with a hot dog ... The husky had clearly been on the streets for a while as she was matted, tick infested and had skin infections everywhere. The Motor City team had been wanting to adopt a dog as their own mutt and she showed up at the right time. But first we had to make sure she wasn't someone's lost pup. We put out ads, scanned her and contacted the shelters. Soon, it became clear that she had found a new home! Ticks removed and infection cleared, she was on the road to recovery. With the help of Marley's Mutts Dog Rescue, she had a brief stay at Wasco State Prison as part of there Pawsitive Change program. She received some training while giving inmates training themselves. Lexie lives at home with Mercedes, but she is our Mutt and she loves to come visit us at the dealership. She would be here every day if she could! If you stop by and see her, be sure to give her belly rubs. Those are her favorite!
