Diabetes Best Practices: #1. Check your blood sugar every morning until it is under 110 mg/dl everyday #2. Count the total grams a carbohydrates in your food everyday (search Google for carb amount). Aim for under 50 grams TOTAL/day. #3. Please let Dr. Hizon know if your blood sugars are going too low (or you are feeling they are too low). Low blood sugar is dangerous.... #4. Attempt to avoid GPS....(grains, potatoes and sugar/sweets) at least 6-days-week. #5 Get your eyes and feet checked every calendar year, #6 Get kidney, cholesterol and Hemoglobin A1C (Hba1c) blood/urine tests at least every year, best if every three months.
