FIRST SUNDAYS @ Motherland Music Afro Cuban Percussion Workshop Sunday March 3rd, 12:30-2:30pm This Month: BANTU Drumming & Song: ... This month’s workshop will cover: PALO MAKUTA YUKA GARABATO These rhythms and songs were brought to the new world with the peoples of Central Africa. They have been preserved and passed down to us for 500 years in an unbroken chain that leads back to their Mandingo/KiKongo origins. The cost of this workshop is $25. I keep the price this low to make it accessible to people of all socioeconomic backgrounds. The price includes drum rental so all you have to bring is your sense of humor and water to drink since drumming is thirsty work. We will begin promptly at 12:30pm and end at 2:30pm.
