" 2 DAYS POSTPARTUM . REAL TALK: The first week of postpartum recovery has been the hardest thing for me since giving birth. I was not mentally prepared for the soreness, the swelling, the stitches, the diapers (my own), constipation, diarrhea, and the leaking of fluids from all over. I couldn’t care less about how I physically look, because I’m so damn proud of my body for growing a big ole’ baby and pushing for 3+ hours! It’s the other aspect of PP that has really throw...n me off. It’s really hard to take care of someone you’re trying to figure out and learn, while also caring for yourself. You’re also required to go to a pediatrician appointment the next day, and it was the most stressful experience for me. I was in tears and felt horrible walking around a new doctor's office, especially during COVID with a newborn. We met with a lactation specialist who told me everything I was doing wrong. I tried to explain to her that I was really sick with constipation/diarrhea the day before and that’s why our feedings were thrown off. Second day PP and I already have someone making me feel guilty for not being the best mom. Thankfully, Dan was there and we met with a different lactation specialist the following day who was so much more positive and helpful! The last thing a new mama needs during recovery is to have someone make them feel even worse. I have so much respect and admiration for mamas on another level after experiencing postpartum myself. I have never been more grateful for my husband, family, and friends for supporting/helping us throughout this time. Every day I’m feeling better and a little stronger. Even though I may not feel like my old self just yet, holding my sweet baby boy makes it all worth it. Motherhood is wild y’all!
