Morro Bay Bike Park 11.02.2021

ATTENTION! We don’t want to give the Super Bowl any more competition so we are moving this months work day to tomorrow, Saturday, Feb 6th from 9:00 to 12:00. The jump line will not be opened until it is fixed so we would love your helping hands and shovels to get the work done. See you there!

Overall the park looks great after all of this rain. However, even though it looks pretty dry the dirt is saturated and therefore very soft and fragile. Please respect the closure. The jump line has some pretty big damage and will be closed until we can repair. Please! For your safety and others DO NOT RIDE THE JUMP LINE.

Update on track condition from this massive storm. Starting with some good news is that the center of the track is not nearly as bad as I thought it would be having water accumulating in that area. Every feature has a puddle before it or around it but it is not as bad as it could be due to a great design and the forethought of this very issue. With that comes the issues that I saw on my look at the park. ... Water is coming down Little Morro Rd and hooking right onto the property going between the tool box and table to the first jumps of the pro line and shedding into the field North of the track. The fields on both sides of the park are now lakes and the lower part of the track along Main St is the worst. The fence line of the park on both sides seems to be higher ground ( like a ridgeline ) and has kept the lower section and fields from becoming " one" for now. My worry is that that Little Morro stream will keep feeding the North field and it will crest over and back fill the center of the park. So the ground is obviously saturated and can't soak up anymore water and untill there is a decent break in the storm plus some help from the sun to help dry things out, I'm guessing the track will be closed for at least the next two weeks until the ground has the chance to firm up. STAY SAFE OUT THERE. See more

Did you know Morro Bay Bike Park is a 501c3 non profit? To qualify for that we have to meet several requirements. One important rule that we let get away from us is to provide a proper handicap parking spot. The designated spot has been covered with dirt and the sign had fallen over from weather. This has been a long over due fix. We now have the sign back up and are working on repainting the asphalt. I have driven by two times today. The track has been busy all day and it a...ppears people are respecting the spot and not parking on it. Remember this is for the elderly, disabled vets or anyone else who has a legal placard and wants to enjoy the park with their friends and family. See more
