Your family law case and COVID-19: - As of now, San Bernardino County courts are closed for non-emergency matters through April 30, 2020. LA County courts expect the current court closure, in which the Court is limited to conducting only time sensitive, essential functions, to be extended through May 29, 2020. Courts are requiring face coverings for all court visitors. - Emergency matters are those where a showing can be made of immediate harm to the child or immediate risk t...hat the child will be removed from the State of California.Immediate harm to the child includes, but is not limited to, the following: domestic violence, sexual abuse, kidnapping, withholding, etc. - Requests for a Domestic Violence Restraining Order can also be filed during this time. - Unless your current custody/visitation orders have recently changed, courts expect you to continue to abide by such orders. - If problems arise with the current custody/visitation orders, work together with the other parent to reach an agreement. Reasonableness is strongly encouraged. - Notice of continued hearings can be found online at https://www.sb-court.org/online-services (divorces) or will be mailed to the address you have on record with the court.
