Moore Law for Children 18.02.2021

February is Black History Month. We will post everyday this month about a different person in celebration of Black History Month. Who do you admire? In honor of Black History Month, we celebrate Ruby Bridges. Ruby Bridges is an American civil rights activist. She was the first African-American child to desegregate the all-white William Frantz Elementary School in Louisiana during the New Orleans school desegregation crisis on November 14, 1960. She was one of six black childr...en in New Orleans to pass the test that determined whether they could go to the all-white William Frantz Elementary School. Two of the six decided to stay at their old school, Bridges went to Frantz by herself, and three children were transferred to McDonogh No. 19 and became known as the McDonogh Three. Bridges and her mother were escorted to school by four federal marshals during the first day that Bridges attended William Frantz Elementary. In the following days of that year, federal marshals continued to escort Bridges. She and her family suffered for their decision. Her father lost his job, and she faced ridicule and racism every day alone. But it was their bravery that was one of the first steps to desegregation, and that is why we celebrate her this month. "DNA may be what biologically connects people with one another, but it's certainly not the only thing which defines a family." The Mueller Family Foundation is a private foundation that was created by the family in the below story to support other stories like their own.

Amanda Prak Sam, founder and CEO of HOPE (Helping Others Pursue Education), is working to rebuild a school in rural Cambodia where her father was a teacher. She and her family are Khmer Rouge survivors who want to support about 500 children from five different villages. This non profit organisations goal is to bring aid, education and inspiration to many more in dire need of our help by ensuring the community itself gains the skills necessary to build on its own success.

For December, I gave each of my team $100 to spend in local businesses to shop for a (1) Secret Santa exchange for our holiday celebration and (2) for toys and gifts for children in foster care through CASA and a local Laguna Beach teen shelter, Waymakers. Today we are highlighting Tight Assets. Located on Coast Highway, Tight Assets has a beautiful selection if women's clothing and custom made leather bags by a local artist. Owned by Heidi Miller for over 30 years! Meldie pu...rchased a gorgeous scarf there. You can visit the Laguna location at 180 S Coast Hwy, Laguna Beach, CA 92651. #waveofchange #rippleeffect #supportsmallbusinesses #shoplocal #supportlocalbusiness

A lovely story about a nurse who went above and beyond and is now part of the family: "A godmother to me is like a support system," Jones said. "And I felt like she fought for me."

Families everywhere are set for the most wonderful time of the year. But in some households, Mom or Dad can't be around for Christmas Eve. Texas mom Stephanie Davisson is making sure kids in those houses get the memo: Santa Claus will still show up on time for their Christmas. "She's helping so many different types of families keep the spirit of Christmas alive. Not everyone's Christmas looks the same, but with these letters they can still be filled with the magic of Christmas."

Our firm was featured today in Stu News on our Wave of Change campaign for National Women's Small Business Month. Proud to do our part to support local women business owners!

For National Women's Small Business Month, my team and I are supporting local Laguna Beach businesses owned by women and treating ourselves to a little self-care! Haircuts, pedicures and massages! Yesterday we visited Belo Blow Dry Bar nestled above the shops on Forest Avenue. The salon is owned by Patricia Musselman who has been a hair stylist in Orange County for nearly 15 years. She is a Laguna Beach resident. The salon is stylish and sophisticated, just like you will be after your cut and color! Breanna styled Delynn and I. Thanks for making us feel shiny and beautiful ladies!

For National Women's Small Business Week, my team and I are supporting local businesses owned by women and treating ourselves to a little self-care! We start with beautiful Nails - the salon I have been going to for over 13 years. Located on S. Coast Highway, the owner Michelle Ngo and her team are first class. Michelle first opened Beautiful Nails on April 15, 2004. After being open for nearly 16 years, they shut down when COVID-19 hit, reopening on July 19th, and then again on August 9th. Four employees have been with Michelle since they opened. Michelle has three grown children, two sons who live in LA, and a daughter Michelle helped through law school while she continues to run her nail salon business. If you want Beautiful Nails visit Michelle!

It's National Principals Month! While trying to adapt to new forms of learning during this pandemic, we need to thank and bring attention to our school principals who are working harder than ever. Visit the website below to learn how to celebrate, advocate, and collaborate this month.

Last month for National Small Business Week, I gave each of my team members $100 to spend on themselves in a local Laguna Beach small business. Then we posted photos of our purchases on our Facebook page to promote those businesses. We were able to patronize 12 Laguna Beach small retail businesses! This month is National Women's Small Business Month! So, in order to support other women small business owners in Laguna Beach, and to thank the amazing women on my team who support me every day, we patronized local service businesses. We indulged in a little self-care with haircuts, mani-pedis, and massages at Bello Blow Dry Bar and Parani Thai Massage and Beautiful Nails. We all deserve a little self-care! And we are proud to support our local women small businesses owners.

Last Monday we wore pink to raise awareness for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Today, we wore purple to call attention to Domestic Violence Awareness Month. "Nearly three out of four Americans personally know someone who is or has been a victim of domestic violence. Now is time to take a stand. Support survivors and speak out against domestic violence all month long. If you need assistance or want to talk to someone about domestic violence, call 1-866-331-9474 to speak with a trained peer advocate." https://www.breakthecycle.org/blog/it’s-national-domestic-violence-awareness-month.

"According to the National Cybersecurity Alliance, many small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) have the misconception that their data is not valuable and that, in turn, they are unlikely to be the target of a cyberattack. However, 28% of cyberattacks involve small business victims." For cybersecurity awareness month, make sure you're being safe online by taking extra steps. Can I Move Away with my Children? "If you wish to move with your child, you must notify the other parent. If you are only moving close by, and the child’s school and custodial schedule will not be impacted, then this is merely a notification process. This notice must be given to both the other parent and their attorney of record." Read more in our blog post linked below. #custody #custodialorders #singleparent
