Moore Creek Park is fully reopened as of this morning! The evacuation orders have been lifted in the Lake Hennessey area and Moore Creek Park is open on both the Moore Creek Unit and the Hennessey Unit. Some good news for a Friday! The Hennessey Unit of Moore Creek is now open. Evacuation orders have been lifted in the area around Moore Creek Park on the Lake Hennessey side. The Hennessey Unit of Moore Creek is now open for use. Access is available through the Conn Valley gate only. Please visit www.NapaOutdoors.org for maps and details.... PLEASE NOTE that the main parking lot on Hwy 128 is still closed and the Moore Creek Unit is not yet open. NOSD staff were out clearing new deadfall at Moore Creek Park yesterday in case CalFire needs to traverse the park in order to deal with the Hennessey Fire. Sta...ff are regularly out clearing fire hazards and deadfall to help keep users safe and to minimize fuel loads in parks. Please be aware that there is an active fire near Lake Hennessey and CalFire is on scene responding. Roads in the area are closed to traffic and Moore Creek Park is closed for safety until this situation resolves. The Red Flag Warning in effect across Napa County & the Bay Area has been extended until 11:00am Monday 8/17. There is an additional Special Weather Statement in effect between now and Monday morning with risk of frequent lightning and the potential for wildfire starts in remote areas. Please be advised that there is higher risk of fires starting from lightning & new fires may spread quickly because of weather /wind conditions. We encourage you to continue to exercise your dogs at Moore Creek Park-Hennessey Unit. To ensure the safety of everyone, we are requiring dogs to be on leash at all times on permitted parks and trails. We want you and your dogs to enjoy visiting the park safely. Leashes should be 6ft long or less, and dogs should not be allowed to greet other dogs. Remember to pick up after your pets, and do NOT litter trails with bags. Also, please do not allow dogs in the water at Lake He...nnessey. We appreciate you doing your part to ensure trails remain open for our furry friends too.
