If we added a way to donate to the museum here on our facebook page, would you be more inclined to donate?

It was late into the "Roaring Twenties" when a Greek immigrant by the name of Peter Snyder began development of a residential subdivision named the Midwick Hills Estates, approximately a half mile from the Midwick Country Club. Intending it to be a Beverly Hills or Bel Aire of the eastside, Snyder built a waterfall down a 240-foot hillside and on the opposite end, a Spanish-styled sales office for his Estates. The building completed in 1928, was named "Jardin El Encanto" (the Enchanted Garden). It is one of the few historic buildings left in the City and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Today, it houses the offices of the Greater Monterey Park Chamber of Commerce.

The Society held its annual #ClassicFilmScreening on July 31, 2018. This year's movie was "The Diary of Anne Frank" (1959) featuring Millie Perkins and Shelly Winters as the abrasive Mrs. Van Daan. Ms. Perkins attended the screening in person as a special guest of Professor Foster Hirsch who is a native of Monterey Park and now a Professor of Film Studies in New York. A banquet was held for Ms. Perkins after the screening at Empress Harbor Restaurant. The screening is a partnership with Friends of the Library.
