The BLM California Coastal National Monument presented Monterey Bay Kayaks with a 'Rock Star Award' recognizing their long-term support of the coastal environment and commitment to fostering stewardship among coastal visitors. Monterey Bay Kayaks pioneered eco-tourism in 1985 and is a leader in kayak recreation and education. Monterey Bay Kayaks staff members educate their clients about the impacts of disturbing wildlife and how to avoid it while enjoying the coast, and is participating with the California Coastal National Monument in a state-wide effort to reduce coastal wildlife disturbance.
