The Monta Factory

In my attempts to diversify my eating habits away from just hamburgers, tacos, and fried chicken (which don't get me wrong, I love!) I decided to take advantage of the variety of food cultures here in LA. So I headed off to Glendale to visit @montafactory, an Armenian family owned restaurant that I saw featured on @eater_la. These are monti (sini monti) dumplings, an Armenian... dish comprised of little mini open faced beef dumplings, baked together into a crispy dough boat. It is then topped with a tomato and a garlic yogurt sauce. These were delicious and the meat seasoning tasted a little bit like beef kobideh which I love. They are so mini, you can quickly devour a tray and not realize how many you ate. Also I got their su-beoreg which is a cheese pastry made with layers of phyllo dough with feta and Monterey Jack filling. It was light and flaky and also very tasty. I've had Armenian food before but never had seen or heard of this dish before. Is there anything else I'm missing out on that I should try? See more
