One of the earliest mobile libraries was the Warrington Mechanics’ Institution Perambulating Library in London. In its first year readers borrowed 12,000 books. Things have moved on a little since 1860. Watch this space for exciting news about a mobile library in Monrovia!

Have you driven or walked by a little library and wondered what was inside? Well, this particular library located at Wildrose & Bradbury has the following titles inside (guarded by a resident elf). Do you have a little library nearby? Why not post the location and a photo of the contents and help "spread the words" around Monrovia.
Have you seen one of these around town? They're called Little Libraries and there are several sprinkled around town. The MPLF loves libraries big and small and we're looking to find some Monrovians to host one. If you'd like to have one in your neighborhood, post here and we'll get in touch with you. If you'd like to support the growth of little libraries just click the donate now button up above and help us "spread the words" around Monrovia!
Next month our library will be seven years old! Much has changed since the library opened on May 16, 2009. The Monrovia Public Library Foundation has worked closely with Library Staff and City Leadership to keep our library up to date. When the library opened, The Hoffman Technology Center featured state of the art computers featuring that slick new Operating System Windows Vista!. Well, technology moves fast and the MPLF has funded a workstation replacement program to insure that Monrovians have the equipment they need to get the most out of their library experience. Come by and visit the library and give one of the new systems a try. Thanks to all those that have supported the MPLF the only Vista you'll see at the library is the beautiful one outside the windows.
Did you know that 25% of American homes have no computer?. The Monrovia Public Library Foundation purchases both adult and children's computers to make sure Monrovians can connect.
We're just getting our page up and running. Please "Like" us and we'll keep you up to date on all the activities of the Monrovia Public Library Foundation.
Stop by the Monrovia Public Library to see the newest attraction - a beautiful mural of books "Sunday Drive" by artist Mike Stilkey! The Monrovia Public Library Foundation is honored to be able to financially support this new addition to our Library!
The new mural at the Library is complete and looks amazing! #MyMonrovia
