(It’s almost Thanksgiving so we are allowed to post this holiday cheerthose are the rules, folks): Join us Thursday Dec 2nd at 5:00 for Light Up Night. We will light up a tree on the patio accompanied by some live acoustic holiday music and free hot chocolate for the kids. And yes, our food and beverage menus will be available for attendees (or get a reservation for dinner afterward - recommended) The holidays are indeed upon us.

We just tapped the very last keg of @ironspringsbrewery beer we will ever see. Anne Marie’s Amber is on draft. After 17 years of making and serving beer and pub fare, this Fairfax brewpub is closing up shop. We want to thank the crew there for providing us with tasty well made brews over the years. May the future hold new adventures. Side note: Iron Springs founder Mike Altman and Monk’s Kettle founder Christian Albertson worked together for years at @mountainsunpub in Boul...der, CO about 20 years ago. We both ended up here separately and did our thing. Cheers to you, Mike and Anne!

With the onset of early sunsets as well as atmospheric rivers, we have (mostly) closed our patio for the season. To accommodate y’all, we have opened up the mezzanine to reservations and have added tables to the front sidewalk seating. Note that we will continue to serve weekend brunch on the patio when weather permits it.

These seats are open. Last week we secretly started to open up the indoor bar to service. Now you can get drinks and the full food menu at the bar, community table and sidewalk seating out front (in addition to the patio). We are also working toward expanding our hours as well as opening our indoor dining area, once we get a clearer understanding of the path out of this pandemic. Stay tuned.

It’s quite a rare treat to have this one on draft but we happen to be that fortunate. Beatification is a spontaneously fermented sour from @russianriverbrewingofficial. Vinnie learned the art of sour beer making from the masters of the lambic region - and this is the real deal. (By the way, it came in this kind of bottle back in 2008) Happy weekend, all.

Here they are - the very first guests at the Monk’s Kettle Terra Linda! @auxren (pictured here with his wife Becca) actually tailgated to be first in line. We are indeed open, though with limited capacity right now (outdoor patio dining only for the first few weeks). We apologize to all who did not get a reservation this weekend but hope you can do so soon. We will be opening indoor bar service on May 26th...and expand from there. ... We’ve been so darned busy we’ve neglected to introduce our Executive Chef, Derek Lau. Chef Derek has developed his craft by working his way through a variety kitchens including Benu, Saison and Manzanita, and for years was the Exec Chef of Suppenkuche and Biergarten. As the menu evolves, we will post updates, but wanted to formally introduce our chef. Psyched to have him aboard.

The bar has arrived. We are still moving forward and anticipate a late fall opening. More updates as we get closer.

While we are still very much a work-in-progress, we wanted to let you know that we are working on our progress. As seen in the first photo, we are almost done with a mural of our logo on the side of the building. And inside, the plumbing is done as is most of the framing. The view of the interior photo is of the kitchen on the first floor, with the exhaust hood sitting under the spot where it will soon be installed; the second floor contains a mezzanine, bathrooms and some mechanical rooms. We are eyeing a late fall opening and we'll keep you posted as we get closer. Hope to serve you soon

The Monk’s Kettle Terra Linda to Open in Marin County Terra Linda, San Rafael, CA Monk’s Kettle owners Christian Albertson and Nat Cutler have partnered with Giordano Bros. owners Jeff and Allison Jordan to form a new restaurant group. The group plans to open a second Monk’s Kettle in the San Rafael neighborhood of Terra Linda. The Jordans, who have lived in the neighborhood for nearly a decade, said, Terra Linda is a community filled with families, schools and businesse...s and in need of a true ‘public house’. We always felt Monk’s Kettle would be a perfect fit for the neighborhood. The partners recently purchased a section of the Terra Linda Shopping Center (the Scotty's Market center) in which the new Monk’s Kettle will be located, with an expected opening in Summer 2020 in the 4,000 square foot space. This 100-plus-seat tavern will feature several different seating areas: a dining room with a mix of smaller and larger tables seating 34; a 12-seat bar with community tables seating 24; a lounge in the front windows; a second floor mezzanine which can also host private parties and events; and seating for another 20 outside. Monk’s Kettle Terra Linda will offer a top-notch craft beer list with the addition of wines and ciders on tap (24 total taps). The from-scratch kitchen program will feature a food menu similar to that of Monk’s San Francisco. Albertson, who lives in neighboring Novato, said, We plan to expand the menu to cater to the community, with offerings like Not For Kids Only Menu, and will have a take-out station designed for food and drinks to serve the needs of the community’s working families as well as the area’s businesses. About the Monk’s Kettle: Opened in 2007, the Monk’s Kettle is a craft beer and wine tavern in San Francisco’s Mission District. Our top-notch beer list and from-scratch kitchen have won us numerous awards and honors.
