MONEYWISE MEMBER HIGHLIGHT - We are thrilled to highlight another one of our amazing team members here at Moneywise. Introducing Steven Nicklaus, Sr. Producer & Community Development. Just like many others on our team here, Steven was born and raised in Bakersfield. The middle child of three boys, he attended Munsey + Loudon Elementary, Warren Jr High and Ridgeview High School. Steven’s interests growing up were varied. They included sports, sports and then...some more s...ports! He played 8-9 years of JBA Baseball as well as NJB Basketball and enjoyed participating in the annual Slam Jam 3-on-3 basketball tournament. His team, Shut Up N Shoot actually won the tournament in Jr High! - Steven says that what brings him joy in life is helping others, whether it's with the community, nonprofits like the Boys and Girls Club of Kern County or the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). But his favorite is spending time with his kiddos, a daughter Harleigh (13) and son Ryan (11), especially on trips to the beach and Wind Wolves. - Outside of the office Steven spends his time Hosting my Football Show on ESPN Bakersfield called: ‘The Fantasy Breakdown’ with my High School buddy, Aaron Crowell. I love Fantasy Football and I played in 8 leagues last season. I know I have a problem. Besides sports though he is a lover of music. His father was a musician growing up so he was always around LOUD ROCK N' ROLL music and he says, It really opened my eyes to all genres of music at a young age. He attends concerts a few times a year (pre-COVID). Cool fact: Steven has been collecting Dolphins and KISS (the band) memorabilia since he was 5 years old! - Steven has a great story about coming into the business. He has been in radio since the age of 17 voicing commercials, producing shows, hosting his own and working a ton of hours. He met our own Garro Ellis at age 18 when he used to do market updates on the morning news show on KGET 970 hosted by Jeff Lemucchi and Ralph Bailey. Steven’s dad, Kirk Nicklaus, trained him in the very fast-paced radio show world and when he finally was made the Program Director of Kern Radio he was offered the opportunity to join the Moneywise family. Easiest choice I have ever had to make! he says. - Steven shares his feelings about working here at Moneywise. Media can sometimes be a cut-throat business so I was always on my toes seeing many people jump from station to station. At Moneywise it feels more like a family. We all look out for each other in the office and with our clients.
