Due to COVID-19, Modesto Junk Company has recently decertified from the State of California’s CRV (California Refund Value) beverage container collection program. This means we are no longer able to pay back the deposit which consumers pay to the State of California on Aluminum Cans, and Glass and Plastic bottles. We can purchase your aluminum cans as scrap (Scrap Aluminum Cans). We can also accept household glass and plastic bottles to be recycled for free (Scrap Glass Bottl...es and Scrap Plastic Bottles). We apologize for any inconvenience. We continue to remain open for the reycling of scrap items, including metals (copper, stainless, iron/steel, appliances/tin, radiators, motors), cardboard, e-waste (monitors, TVs, computers, laptops), and lead-acid (auto-type) batteries. Our hours remain Mon - Fri 8am - 4:30pm; and Sat 9am - 3pm.

We are so saddened to learn of the recent passing of a long-time customer and friend, Roy Dyson, age 95. From the obituary in The Modesto Bee: 'After retiring, he spent time with his family, he loved a good dinner, "Stuff" being his favorite, attending car shows in his Model-A, and recycling metals and taking scraps to Modesto Junk.'

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. - origin unknown It may not look pretty to all, but we are currently recycling almost all grades of scrap plastics at this time.... Our California Recund Value (CRV) beverage container collection operation remains temporarily closed due to COVID-19 complications, but we are actively receiving household scrap plastics from the public as drop-off items for recycling.

Good evening friends, We had a brief, but visually large, fire late this afternoon. Nobody was injured. Our team followed procedures and our local Modesto Fire Department quickly extinguished the flames. We thank all of our community partners and supporters for the genuine concern and outreach.

An interesting Modesto historical recycling find we came across this week! We are sharing to help us all stay connected - even if virtually for many - during this physically social distant time. #Modesto150 #ModestoJunk100 #2020VisionReimagined https://www.modesto150.com/invention-of-curbside-recycling/
