Happy #gibsunday! Today in the shop we got this bad boi in for a setup and adjustment on the Duesenberg Les Trem II. The Gibson ES-335 (Electric Spanish) was the world's first commercial semi-hollowbody electric guitar series. By 58’ Gibson was making a few solid body models which had much lower feedback and better sustain but lacked the darker, warmer tones of hollow bodies. Supposedly modeled after Les Pauls (according to him) ‘The Log’ The ES-335 was an attempt to find a m...iddle ground with a warmer tone than a solid body and little feedback. If in 1958 I purchased the guitar for $280 then in 2020 that same item would cost $2500. I met @skylar_battles (Jonah) when he was like 13 and I remember him talking my ear off about Guthrie. I was like ‘kid I gotta get back to work’ but then I heard him play and I was like oh shit ok. I’m a little late to the party but had to give my old man props. When I was around 10 I broke into my first house. When I was 11 I experienced my my first drive by. When I was 13 we started a gang and after that things got progressively worse and worse. I’ve been stabbed, I’ve been jumped and I’ve been in more fights than I can remember. This was a fun project... routed it for some @bareknucklepickupsofficial, fret level, full rewire and top it off with a full setup. Players often overlook how many more sound options one can get with a few wiring mods. I added a push/pull pot to the 5 way and then added the 2 more options with another push pull (neck position + bridge and ALL ON option) do I total getting up to 10 sounds. These @legatorguitars always need fret work but you can’t beat the price if you’re sho...pping for one of those ‘chuga chuga’ guitars.
