Everyone’s always talking about dog treats this, dog treats that but has anyone ever stopped to think about if cat’s want a treat too? To answer this question, we partnered with our friends @theverybestcookie to rigorously develop the ultimate cat treatit’s called Kitty Chow, and we think Simba, Kasha, and Mittens will love it. Bring them in for a checkup at The Studio City Clinic this week to try it.
@hankskerchiefs for The Studio City Clinic A forest green kerchief designed to the exact specifications of Modern Animals. Limited to our first 400 guests.
Day One in Studio City
Modern Animals, it’s time to let your Studio City peeps in on the secret: your favorite vet is opening its doors on Ventura Blvd THIS WEDNESDAY. Appointments are bookable now in the Modern Animal app.

A little more than a year ago we opened our West Hollywood Clinic's doors to humans for the first time. To commemorate the occasion and keep everyone safe, we released our first film, "Now Actually Open." Given the times, we thought it was fitting to bring back our dear friend, Claude P. Crawford III, to remind us of our pandemic manners. Watch (or rewatch) the full thing on IGTV and Youtube, and be sure to stay safe out there, Modern Animals!
We’re partnering with our friends at The Very Best Cookie on Puppy Chow. Yes, real, homemade dog treats. 25% of proceeds will go to The Modern Animal Fund- our 501(c)(3) that provides financial support for Modern Animal members who cannot afford life-saving care for their pets. Check out the link in our bio.

This meme made our designer cry but it’s not designer appreciation week, is it? Happy #vettechweek to all who celebrate. Couldn’t do it without you guys.
Me and all my competing priorities this week.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the Modern Animal moms, and especially Paulette Bonafonté.
For everyone visiting the clinic today, keep your eyes peeled for our resident COVID Compliance Crow. She told us over the weekend that the clinic is her home now (she’s really into the good light and forward-thinking design), so be a good house guest and follow the rules. ... we honestly aren’t sure what she is capable of if you don’t.
Spoilers without context for the special announcement we have planned later this week.

Random photo dump from the weekend. Absolutely nothing to do with the announcement we are making this Thursday. Swipe for good vibes and tan lines.
Dr. Alfreda Johnson Webb broke barriers. She was the first black woman licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the United States. She was the first black member of the Women’s Veterinary Association. And she was also the first black woman in the North Carolina General Assembly. Dr. Webb was born in Mobile, Alabama in 1923. She earned both a Bachelor of Science and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the Tuskegee Institute. Dr. Webb served as an Associate Pr...ofessor at Tuskegee and later a Professor of Biology at North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University. Dr. Webb was also an active member of the Democratic Party in North Carolina, serving at various times as the Chairperson of Minority Affairs in the North Carolina General Assembly and as president of the Democratic Women of North Carolina. She was a pioneer in the field in veterinary medicine and a tireless advocate for democracy and justice. #BlackHistoryMonth See more
Happy Valentine's Day Modern Animals!
Why should you spay your female cat? Have you ever been around a female cat in heat? Well, we have. Let's just say the drive to get out there and meet the boys is not only annoyingly audible, but also maddeningly relentless. Also, as cute as kittens are, we don't need this many. Thanks.
With Valentine’s Day approaching, we thought this would be the exact right moment to talk about neuters and spays. Why neuter your male dog? By some estimates, a male dog can smell a female dog who is "in season" up to one mile away, and he will do nearly anything to get to her, including slipping out of his collar, bolting away faster than you ever saw him run before, and attempting to cross eight lanes of traffic. Also, the longer a male dog stays intact (un-neutered) the more ingrained "unsavory" male behaviors become (re: humping) and the less likely it is that neutering will decrease them.
Dr. Frederick Douglas Patterson had a storied career in veterinary medicine and education. Born in Washington D.C in 1901, by the age of 31, Dr. Patterson earned a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine and a Master of Science from Iowa State University and a Doctorate of Philosophy from Cornell University. While Dr. Patterson’s academic accomplishments were many, he was no stranger to the pervasive racism of the early 20th century. A line from Dr. Patterson’s autobiogra...phy reads, I learned a lesson with regard to race that I never forgot: how people feel about you reflects the way you permit yourself to be treated. If you permit yourself to be treated differently, you are condemned to an unequal relationship. Importantly, Dr. Patterson did not simply collect degrees. He was a practicing veterinarian and professor, and he later became a tremendously influential and long-serving president of the Tuskegee Institute (today Tuskegee University). He also founded the United Negro College Fund. And, in 1987, he received the Presidential Medal of Freedom. #BlackHistoryMonth See more

Happy #vettechweek! Veterinary Technicians are the heart and soul of veterinary clinics. They take care of our patients, our members, and our doctors. Vet Tech Team, you da best. Thank you! @therealbenihanna"
We know that we are most likely to move the needle on voter turnout with our own employees. That's why we are encouraging our team to mail-in their ballot or vote early. We are also closing our clinic at 1 pm on Election Day to make sure that every team member has a chance to vote. Make a plan. Go vote. Also don't forget to tag us when you get your #ivetted sticker.
We're a vet clinic, but that doesn't mean that we aren't civic-minded. Come in before the election to get your #ivetted sticker and make sure you VOTE!
