5 Biggest Issues That Sabotage Family Caregivers Caring for an aging parent or other loved one in your home usually begins with the best of intentions. Over time, however, a good thing can disintegrate into a tough, tense situation. Knowing the top trouble spots can help you make changes that can delay or avoid the need for any home moves for an aging parent or loved one. The five biggest issues are lack of privacy, ignoring sleep deprivation, the lone-soldier syndr...ome, not anticipating what's next, and overwhelming care tasks. "The time and energy of care-giving, by necessity, must be taken away from other things, especially family," says geriatric psychiatrist Ken Robbins of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, who councils family caregivers. "This may be the biggest issue for caregivers." Please click on the link to learn more about these issues and some possible solutions! https://www.caring.com/articles/caregiver-issues

Mobül University: Everyone Has a Story to Tell! Most of us likely wish we had thought to record stories about, or told by, our loved ones before they were gone. Perhaps there’s a story of your own you’ve secretly longed to tell. Maybe you’ve read a popular memoir that’s inspired you to write one yourself. Well now’s your chance to make it happen! ... On September 17 at 10:30am in our Long Beach store, Mobül will host a one-hour interactive session with memoir instructor Liz Sharzer. Liz will provide participants with the tools to write slice of life stories about life cycle events, family traditions and special moments. Participants will learn about elements of memoir including voice, theme and locating memories. Liz has been a freelance writer and editor for over 18 years. She teaches memoir writing classes in Long Beach and Los Alamitos and works with students on their college application essays. This interactive learning session on memoir writing is part of our Mobül University series. Please click on the link below for directions and more information.
