California’s Office of Environmental Health and Hazard Assessment has updated Prop 65 to include language covering not only smoke/particulate from cannabis, but also THC itself. Although these additional warnings aren’t technically required until January 3,2021, recent notice of non-compliance filed against dispensaries around the state highlight the urgency of complying with Prop 65 not only for the businesses producing and packaging these products, but for consumer-facing retailers as well. To help you get started, this chart presents a comparison of current and future required Prop 65 warnings for cannabis smoke and THC https://mmlg.com/prop-65-delta-9-thc-cannabis-compliance/

Los Angeles’ Department of Cannabis Regulation is considering a significant revamp to its licensing process and social equity program. The proposed changes are being heard today by LA city council’s Rules, Elections and Intergovernmental Relations committee. If the changes are approved there, approved changes would then be voted on by city council. While it’s great the DCR is addressing its pitfalls, this probably would’ve been more appropriate to address a year ago so all the applicants could adjust to the new rules. It’s also worth noting that lifting the location move ban is going to create some challenges since there are very few locations available that do not violate the undue concentration restrictions. #dcr #losangeles #losangelescannabis https://mmlg.com/los-angeles-cannabis-social-equity-reform/

California cultivators need to swiftly and accurately record cultivation data into the Track-and-Trace system via METRC. We created a checklist for cultivators to quickly verify which cultivation events require entry into the system and how soon employees must act after the event has occurred. Note: This is not a comprehensive compliance guide. It is intended to prompt all people in the CA cannabis industry to focus more on the specific steps necessary to remain in compliance. DM us if you’re interested in more comprehensive compliance checklists or detailed standard operating procedures for your cannabis business #metrc #calcannabis #cannabis - https://mmlg.com/cultivation-checklist-track-and-trace/

Cannabis retailers nationwide were impacted by the rioting and looting following George Floyd’s death over the past few weeks. The cannabis supply chain, already forced to adapt due to COVID, will face yet another hurdle as the damaged stores rebound from the devastation. We put together a list of California regulations to help those licensees that were looted. Don’t be afraid to message us if you have any questions about getting your business back in tip-top shape. https://mmlg.com/reporting-cannabis-dispensary-looting/

At a time when defund the police has become the mantra for those demanding justice for black lives, California lawmakers are getting ready to pass a budget bill that would shift about 50 law enforcement officers to the Bureau of Cannabis Control. While providing more law enforcement to crack down on the unregulated market is an upside, CA needs to do more to figure out how to empower those who want to enter the regulated market but don’t have the resources to do so.
