Every new year I ponder my life and take a good look at what I need to improve and what I am grateful for. I am so grateful for my husband. I am so grateful to ...his parents who raised this amazing man who loves with an open heart. I am so grateful that despite being raised by wolves, I went out into the world and found love. A beautiful and sustaining love. I am also grateful for my cadre of friends who know me so well and never hesitate to challenge me and help me grow into an even better version of myself. I’m very surprised, at this stage of my life, to be so happily married and running a wedding venue with my husband. I’m very surprised, after spending a good part of my life being suspicious of marriage, that marriage has been an amazing vehicle to explore love, forgiveness, and fun.

Running Mitchell Grove is fun. The pandemic has curtailed weddings for now ... but aspects of the business remain. I just took a marketing class and they challenged me to find the emotion that Mitchell Grove elicits. So! How does Mitchell Grove make you feel? What does Mitchell Grove stand for?

This dead tree has been on my radar for a long time. So many pictures are taken in this direction. I have wanted to whip out the chainsaw and have it gone! But, well, it’s pretty darn hazardous to cut down a dead tree and requires training that I do not have. So, we are super grateful to have found Zack. Meanwhile, when weddings are a thing again, our forest will be even more beautiful.

I am so glad this area got used for an elopement! I think it is a romantic spot with two trees growing out of an old stump. We needed to reseed the lawn and we used a red fescue. The color of the lawn is amazing! It’s also super yummy for the sheep! #homesteadweddingvenue #covidelopement

The lawn had a rough winter. Between the trenching and the pandemic the lawn had seen better days. But then, we had a taker for a single-family (super-small) Covid -Style wedding. Well! One bag of creeping red fescue, a bale of straw for a light mulch, and some misting morning and evening ... look at us now!
