Mount Toro HS CTE Student of the year. Alyris Reyes stands out as one of the most promising students in Patient Care. Alyris is the eldest of four children, she is smart and driven, however, regular school was not a fit for her. Her desire to become independent after high school led her to the Dental Careers Pathway at Mission Trails ROP, without knowing that this decision was going to positively transform her future. Alyris became interested in the Patient Care field and ded...icated endless hours to learn the technical skills needed to perform at the highest level of precision. There were two pivotal moments in her senior year that are worthwhile to mention.. First, when the opportunity to compete in Regional SkillsUSA arose, she enrolled without hesitation. Two weeks later, when the results arrived, Alyris showed to the world and to herself that the impossible was possible by bringing home the Regional SkillsUSA Gold Medal. Second, a trip to Cabrillo College to the Dental Hygienist program showing her non-traditional opportunities in college. Alyris plans to attend Cabrillo College to pursue a career in Dental and yes, become independent. We have no doubt that her determination and charisma will bring her back to her community to show others that dreams come true, once you find your call and work hard to make it a reality. Congratulations! See more
