Date Change - AGAIN - for tow-in ... changed to 2/3/19 ... see below Very sad news - Harold Johnson died of heart failure at the beginning of the week. Harold worked for Mission Soaring Center for over 10 years. He was the king of the winch and dearly loved towing students - particularly new tow students - and his students dearly loved him in return. He also loved taking pilots on safaris - he just loved turning people into pilots. His incredible smile, friendly manner and ...the most gorgeous head of white hair all added to his charm as a favorite Mission Soaring instructor. Harold had a stroke 4 years ago and was no longer able to string words together which was a huge setback because Harold loved to talk and joke with everyone. According to Arlene, Harold's wife, he passed peacefully. She also said that Harold did not want anyone to fuss when he died; he didn't want a funeral or a memorial. So, let's have a get-together in his memory. OK Harold, you'd like this ... let's have a party. Sunday, February 3, I'll be towing up all that want to come out to Tres Pinos (to Harold's winch) and the price per tow will be a story about Harold. --> Date change AGAIN due to weather forecast <-- Harold would understand - hang gliding and towing is weather dependent!
