Simply sitting can cause back strain. Here are some tips to protect your back: keep your feet on the floor and do not cross your legs, use a pillow to support your lower back or shoulder blades as needed, and make a point to stand up once an hour to stretch.
Congratulations to the BEAM (Behavioral Evaluation and Addiction Management) team - who won the 2020 Innovation Nursing Week Award. The BEAM team was created to improve patient care by proactively helping patients at risk for drug and alcohol withdrawal. The members of the BEAM team are experts in de-escalation techniques, and they spearhead caregiver education covering withdrawal symptom management. We’re so grateful for this innovative team that stands up for safety! #NationalNursesWeek

History was made at Providence Mission Hospital today! We administered our first COVID-19 vaccines to our frontline caregivers. This is a light at the end of the tunnel, Dr. Jim Keany shares, one of the first caregivers to receive the vaccine today. The vaccine has given hope to all of our nurses and staff who have been working so hard for nine months. Even though the worst is possibly yet to come, this is giving us enough strength to get through this last push. This is a... truly monumental day. Check out some photos taken at our immunization clinic this morning! #Vaccine #HealthcareHeroes #MissionHospitalCommunity
Some hospitals only have one type of robotic-assisted surgical system, but Mission Hospital has numerous systems. Our surgeons have the opportunity to select the surgical system that will provide each patient with the most minimally invasive procedure and the quickest recovery. Mission is proud to celebrate the first anniversary of our ROSA navigation system.

Kenna Stone, MSN, RN, ONC, CMSRN, is one of the incredible nurse navigators who works with our orthopedics team. She has helped many patients through the process of knee replacement surgery using the ROSA robot. The patients I work with are remarkable. They put in so much time and work into preparing for surgery, it inspires me to do everything I can to support them. She goes on to say how the ROSA robot has improved the quality of care provided by the orthopedics team. Our doctors can give their patients a better, more natural knee. That’s pretty special. Nurse navigators like Kenna and technology like the ROSA robot help us uphold our promise to deliver personalized care with precise medicine.
We honor all veterans, past or present, for your service and sacrifice. We are grateful for your dedication. #VeteransDay

It’s been a year since Kathleen Weaver had her knee replaced at Mission Hospital with the ROSA robot. Before her surgery, Kathleen walked with a cane; just two months after her surgery, she was back in the gym. The team at Mission Hospital Laguna Beach is absolutely phenomenal. Dr. Park took the time to sit and talk with me at every single visit. He was so thorough and personable. Kathleen recommends Dr. Park and the surgery to all her friends. I had the most positive experience. Anyone who puts off this procedure is being silly. I feel like I have my wings again.
Our dedication to whole person care reaches every corner of our community. This is why Providence created a three-year plan to address housing insecurity in Orange County, which includes developing 400 units of affordable housing. Orange County is better when we work together towards health for a better world. #ProvidenceOC
Today, we spend more time online than ever before. When we decided to create a new website for Mission Hospital Foundation, we wanted to make it an inviting place to connect with us and learn more about our mission. And we knew the faces and stories of our donors, patients, caregivers and leaders should be at the heart of it. We hope you will be inspired by the way it showcases the important role of philanthropy in bringing the most advanced and compassionate care to our community. Getting a mammogram or a biopsy can be scary. One of my top priorities as a mammogram technologist is to try to make my patients feel more comfortable. ~ Jane Codd. Jane is a caregiver at Mission Hospital’s Women’s Wellness Center - she is dedicated to the wellbeing of her patients. That’s why she wants to remind women how important it is to have annual mammograms, even during the pandemic. I understand the fear of exposure to COVID-19, but we have taken every precaution to ensure our patients’ safety. Early detection is so important in the fight against breast cancer; please don’t delay your care. #MeetTheCaregiver #HealthcareHeroes

Mission Hospital is celebrating! A year ago, we introduced our ROSA robot for total knee replacement surgery and the results are astounding. I was in the hospital for just one night. And a few months later, I was riding my bike and going for walks again, says Judy Etherton, one of our first patients to have total knee replacement surgery with ROSA. Our orthopedic surgeons are dedicated to providing personalized care for each patient, and our robotics program plays an important role in that. Judy was incredibly impressed with the precision of the technology and the excellence at Mission Hospital. Dr. Samuel Park and the rest of the surgical team couldn’t have been any better. I felt very informed and comfortable throughout the whole process.
