Me: Bach had 20 children Student: Was he a polygamist? Out of the mouths of babes. From another piano teacher. No, he was not a polygamist. His first wife had 13 children, when she died, he remarried and had 7 more. Not all reached adulthood, and some became musicians and composers in their own right.

Mrs. Perrot was my first piano teacher when I started at age 7. Her German training disciplined me to achieve high levels of performance and teaching ability. When I was grown, I visited her and she told me, "I would drrill you", in her German accent. I never remembered her drilling me, I only remember her love of teaching and her warmth toward me and I'm sure to all her students.
