Dia De los Muertos . Dia De los Muertos (or Day of the Dead) is a 2-day Mexican holiday (tradition) to remember those that have passed away. November 1st is to remember children that passed away, and November 2nd for adults that have passed away. . Preparation for these 2 days begins way before, with altars containing pictures of your deceased loved ones, candles, fruit, and their favorite food and drinks. On these two days, they come back to visit us and eat their meals that... were put out. . One common part of this tradition is paint our faces This is my first time painting my own face (I'm very used to painting someone else's face ). . I've posted this picture in the past but trust me, there's a method to the madness. . I posted a few months ago about the event I attended with @misscanyonhills for @fashionatomyofficial . I learned a lot that day, as I previously mentioned and was given the opportunity to wear this necklace (second slide for clearer view), which reads "We Rise".... . October is a month of many things. Spooky Season, Fall, and Fun. However, there's more than this going on. October is also National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the necklace I wear representing that. . Domestic Violence is a topic that makes me tense up. I never feel like I know what to say because I don't feel I'm qualified or in the position to. It's a tough topic and I believe every victim is affected differently. However, despite every victim being different, they all have one thing in common: they're all strong. Every victim is strong, whether they believe it or not. . As you've seen, I tend to post things near the end of the month they're taking over (Pride, Hispanic Heritage) because I believe it's important that we move into a new month, still remembering these things. Cultural, Awareness or any other months aren't only relevant on those months. They're not only relevant for the first 2 weeks and then forgotten. They're relevant yesterday, today, tomorrow, and forever. .
