We would like to welcome 4 new members to our Miramar Fire Family from Right to Left Paramedic Justin Fite, Firefighter Ryan Eck, Firefighter Joshua Mulvania, and Firefighter Steven Roman. These young men were part of Academy 12 where they learned the principle foundations that Miramar Fire Department instills into its Firefighters & Paramedics P.R.I.D.E (Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Dependable, Enthusiasm). Wish you all the best in your journey!

One of the many skills new firefighters learn in the fire service are Low Angle Rope Rescue Operations and Vehicle Extrication. This month, Miramar Fire hosted two California State Fire classes, which provides each firefighter the experience and techniques they will need in a stressful situation. Thanks to Guardian Towing Inc. for providing Miramar Fire with the vehicles that make our training successful. Thanks to Curtis - Tools for Heroes, HURST Jaws of Life, and Paratech Fire & Rescue Equipment for demonstrating new rescue techniques that our firefighters can use on a vehicle rescue.

Last October we invited community members into our fire station for an Open House event during Fire Prevention Week (FPW). Unfortunately, this year it is safer for the MCAS Miramar community and members of the Miramar Department (MFD) if we do not offer a traditional Open House at our fire station. Instead, MFD will be hosting several fun, interactive activities, and virtual events throughout FPW beginning on Monday, October 5. This year’s FPW theme is Serve Up Fire Safety i...n the Kitchen! This focus on cooking fire safety comes in response to home cooking fires representing the leading cause of U.S. home fires, with nearly half (49 percent) of all home fires involving cooking equipment; unattended cooking is the leading cause of these fires. A virtual open house will highlight the week and occur throughout the day on Saturday, October 10 on MFD social and digital platforms. Join us for a fun-filled week of fire safety, special activities and Behind-the-Scenes features!

A huge "Thank You" to our local Navy Federal Credit Union at MCAS Miramar. Today they surprised E60 with an appreciation tote bags full of goodies. The crews of Miramar love interacting and getting to know our neighbors in non-emergency situations.
