Miramar Flags of Honor 09.07.2021

Even though we weren’t able to raise the funds for Miramar National Cemetery we certainly can’t ignore participating in other National Cemeteries events. Fort Rosecranes is a beautiful place and certainly worth a visit to pay respect for those who served and sacrificed.

Fort Rosecrans is in need of Volunteers this Saturday, May 29th for US Flag Placement. Also in need of Volunteers on June 1st for Flag removal. Any help is appreciated. If you have a large group or know of a large group that would like to participate please give Director Greta Hamilton or Jaime Salome a call at Fort Rosecrans or Miramar National Cemetery. Thank you for your support and see you there!!

Ladies and Gentlemen as Memorial Weekend approaches many of you will have thoughts about our Servicemen and Servicewomen who are laid to rest. If you are unable to visit a loved one or friend during this time below is the Veterans Legacy Memorial that will help you pay tribute. It’s very simple. Just tap the link and it will direct you to their website. Scroll down, add the persons name and it will search and find any name who is interned at ANY national cemetery in the Un...ited States. From there you will see the name and information of your loved one or friend. At the bottom of that page you will be able to add a note to pay homage. After, you will have to enter a name and an email address (they will NOT sell it) and confirm your note. It’s actually very easy!! So please take a moment and honor a hero or 2 or 3 or ... One more thing, please share this message. Everybody deserves to be recognized!!! Thank you, Sal, Greg, Joanne https://www.vlm.cem.va.gov/

Ladies and Gentleman, Due to COVID 19, It is with great disappointment to announce we will not be posting flags this year to honor and memorialize our Servicemen and Servicewomen at Miramar National Cemetery. However, this does not mean they will be forgotten!!! Over Memorial Weekend you may visit the cemetery and pay your respects. You must wear a mask and practice social distancing. To minimize traffic visiting the cemetery anyday over the 3 day weekend is encouraged. ... If you do not feel comfortable leaving your home there are other ways to honor Servicemen and Servicewomen who are laid to rest. Post a flag on your lawn, in a window, or wear a flag pin. Even a silent thought, prayer or Thank You goes along way!!! Yes, we are disappointed, but please keep in mind, Miramar Flags of Honor is not down, we are not out. We will continue our mission to honor those who deserve to be remembered. We will continue to raise money and with your assistance and well being next year will be our year and many forthcoming years to raise one flag at a time. Thank you, Sal, Gregand Joanne See more
