We applaud the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision today blocking the Trump administration’s attempt to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. The DACA program, whose beneficiaries are known as DREAMers, currently provides work permits and relief from deportation for about 650,000 undocumented immigrants who were brought to this country as children. Today’s decision ensures these DREAMers can currently remain in this country and continue contributing to our communities.

Federal Employees Have Lower Burden for Age Discrimination This week, in Babb v. Wilkie, the U.S. Supreme Court held in an 8-1 decision (Justice Thomas dissenting) that federal employees can sue for age discrimination if any part of a personnel action was tainted by age bias, even if age was not the but-for cause of the personnel decision. This is a lower burden for federal employees compared to the standard applied to private-sector employees bringing age discrimination claims.
