Chris Warner-CareyWe Half Moon Bay This one gives a bit more perspective on what's happening out at Mavericks today. Using the surfer as a 6-foot ruler, I'm estimating that this wave is around 40 feet, peak to trough. The telephoto lens foreshortened the distance. It is +/- 600 meters from my position to the surfer. Nikon D600, with 70-200mm f/2.8, in crop mode (1.5x = 300mm)@ f/11, 1/400 sec. I should have rented that 600mm lens... at Mavericks Point Break.
