October 27th is National Black Cat Day!!! Folklore associated with these felines varies from culture to culture. Western superstition dictates that black cats are typically viewed as inauspicious, or evil omens; usually suspected of being the familiars of witches, or even shape-shifting witches themselves. In Celtic mythology, a faery known as the Cat sith takes a shadowy feline form to prowl the night! These beautiful creatures don’t always get a bad wrap though. Most of ...Britain and Japan consider black cats to be good luck! Some believe that a lady who owns a black cat will have many suitors, and according to Scottish lore, an unknown black cat's arrival to the home signifies prosperity! #nationalblackcatday #blackcatday #blackcats #blackcat #cat #cats #witches #witch #omen #omens #badluck #superstitious #superstition #supernatural #familliar #halloween #salem #nationalday

October 26th is National Pumpkin Day!!! Today we celebrate one of the most versatile and beloved fall foods! Pumpkins are used in countless recipes; from soup to lattes and we just can’t get enough! Here are some other cool facts about pumpkins you may not know. Pumpkins ( or Cucurbitaceae ) are a member of the gourd squash family, and can grow to the size of either a tomato, or weigh as much a Fiat! The word pumpkin originates from pepon which is Greek for "large melon", o...r something round and large. The word was adapted by the French, becoming pompon, which the British changed to pumpion and later to American colonists became known as pumpkin! Carving designs into pumpkins, known as Jack-o'-lanterns is an annual Halloween tradition that came to the United States with Irish immigrants. # #nationalpumpkinday #pumkinday #pumpkinpie #pumpkinbread #punmpkinlatte #jackolantern #pumpkincheesecake #pumpkinsoup #nationalday

October 25th is National Greasy Food Day!!! There’s just something about greasy food; it’s definitely not the healthiest choice, but it tastes great! So, we eat it anyway. Unfortunately ingesting an excessive amount of greasy food puts a strain on your digestive system, increasing the risk of diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol and stroke! If you’re going to indulge in a meal heavy in saturated fat, then try to make sure the food is at least cooked in healthier oils like olive oil vs. lard or butter. Then there is the option to simply use less oil. Your body will thank you for it! #nationalgreasyfoodday #greaseyfood #greasy #nationalday

October 24th is National Bologna Day!!! Bologna is a form of sausage named after the city in Italy where it originated in 1661. Although often referred to as baloney or parizer, it is also known as polony in Britain, Ireland, Zimbabwe and South Africa! Described as a subtly seasoned delicacy made of lean pork and speckled with lumps of lard. Italian baloney hardly resembles bologna found in the United States; but due to it’s high affordability it has certainly earned its place on dinner tables, and in lunch boxes across the country! #nationalbalognaday #balognaday #balogna #bolognasandwich #friedbalogna #balognabowl #nationalday

October 23rd is National Boston Cream Pie Day!!! According to the owners of the Parker House Hotel in Boston, this adaptation of earlier confections known as American pudding-cake pies was created by the chef, Augustine Francois Anezin during his time running their kitchen between 1865 and 1881. As time passed, the combination of yellow butter cake filled with custard or cream and topped with chocolate glaze became known simply as Boston Cream, because this dessert isn’t ...literally pie. It was named when cakes and pies were cooked in the same pans, and the words were used interchangeably. Hence the potential for confusion! This tasty trio of cake, cream and chocolate has since become a favorite in the culinary world and has been adapted into many other delicious recipes such as donuts, cookies and cupcakes! #bostoncreampieday #nationalday #nationalbostoncreampieday #boston #cream #pie

It has even been proven to affect the very mood in a room depending on the color of the paint on the walls! So take a moment today to think about the colors around you and what they... might represent or just pause to appreciate a breathtaking sunrise because color is in everything we do!
