We apologize for not posting in awhile. We are celebrating one year here in Loomis as Mike’s Auto Classics, the year has flown by with a lot of work. We have been receiving the warmest welcome by long time customers in the Lodi/Stockton area, as well as many Loomis and surrounding city locals. We have been so busy that we have been focusing on the classics we have in our shop, and haven’t had a lot of down time to post all we have been up to. The following photos show our c...urrent full shop. We currently have a 56 Ford we have done a lot of work to (and the job is continuously growing), a 68 Ford, a 57 Belair, and a 1933 Ford. We are busy with these jobs and will let you know what we have done as soon as possible. We finished the Sting Ray awhile back, so please stay tuned for a full report on all of the work we did, as well as more photos. Until then, please keep us in mind for all of your classic car needs under the paint! See more

Here today is a 1966 Corvette we completed a few months back for Tom from Newcastle and we’ve been so busy just haven’t had time to post yet. Tom brought us this very cool original 66 Stingray that needed quite a bit of work done. Wanting to keep it as original as possible Tom wanted the engine rebuilt as well as the 4 speed transmission. In addition to that the fuel gauge didn’t work, the power antenna wouldn’t go up, the shifter was sloppy so the correct gear was hard to f...ind. There were also maintenance items like brake pads and leaking calipers that needed replacing as well as the shocks. Other concerns were the inoperable speedometer and and aftermarket stereo had long ago been added that just had to come out and then make the original factory radio work. We removed the engine and transmission had the engine rebuilt, balanced and then reassembled and rebuilt the carburetor. With a new clutch assembly ready and the transmission with all new parts the engine and transmission were put back in. The shifter we repaired, replaced it’s bushings and installed. The original side pipes had also needed to be repaired as their hangers were broken off and mounting bushings were missing. During the time the engine was out the speedometer was sent out to Red Line Gauge works for refurbishing. The dash bulbs were all replaced, the fuel gauge sending unit was also replaced. Then the wires repaired to the original radio so it came back to life and the power antenna was checked out and we determined the motor had to be replaced. We got it working 3/4 of the way and that was better than the $900 for a new one. The brakes were all gone through and the shocks replaced. Final touches on the engine tuning and shifter adjustment and the Corvette was ready to road test. What a different car than before. Nice and solid on the road, ran and shifted well. Thank you for your business Tom!!

This is a recent job we did. It’s a 1933 Ford Flatbed Dually that came to us from way out in Newcastle on a tow truck. This family had recently purchased it for a great deal. The problem was that our customer hadn’t yet been able to drive it, as it wouldn’t shift and it was spewing oil when I say everywhere, I mean E VR RE WHERE. This contaminated the clutch to where it was impossible to shift. Research showed that this year make and model does not have a rear main seal an...d there is an oil slinger instead, so that over filling the crank case causes them to leak badly. Research also showed that overfilling the crank case is the primary cause of oil leaks, so we drained the oil to see how much we had. We recovered 2 1/2 gallons of oil, where it only required a max of 4 quarts. After refilling it, the leak was gone. Mike also cleaned the clutch and took it for a drive but the shifter in the transmission was very worn internally. Mike disassembled it, resized the pin in the tower and shifter arm. It then shifted normally. We went for a road test and broke down in the intersection of Taylor/King at 4:30 on a weekday. Some of you may have seen us, if you helped push, thank you, and to the guy who gave us a gas tank, thank you so much. We love this community and were touched by how many people stopped and jumped in to help out. There was also a wiring problem. The wires shorted to the brake lights because there were no fuses. Mike repaired the wiring, disassembled the switch, cleaned out the rust, and re wired to include a a fuse. We had the owner come pick it up, yet unfortunately, he broke down about a mile away. We immediately went and found him and upon further evaluation, we knew there was another fuel issue of some sort. It seemed as the fuel tank level got lower, the engine became starved of fuel. We got it back to the shop to find that the fuel valve was plugged up preventing enough fuel to get to the carburetor to keep the engine running. There was rust and other contaminants that had clogged it. After cleaning the valve, and draining the tank, we filled the tank with fresh fuel. This completely solved the problem. This brought us to about 7 pm on that same Friday night, so we got to take it for a nice long, breakdown free evening ride and delivered it home to our customers. Since we earned their trust and business, the following Monday, they brought in their Belair for some work, so stay tuned for photos and that story. It was great meeting this fun family. Thank you Kevin, Linda, and Kyler for your business, and for passing out cards for us! See more
