Obama Care Summary. Last Year we analyzes our group clients a felt all but 3 were better to stay with their "Grandfathered"Plans. For that reason we changed open enrollment to December.... Delaying Obama care til now. Therefore all of our group clients renew in the same months as Medicare AND Covered California. Medicare is very simple but Covered California is an administrative nightmare. In general we have tracked the time it takes to get coverage (4 to 12 hours) and a 75 ...to 96 % cut in commission and we calculate our break even point at 8 years for each policy we sell. We can get bonuses if we steer clients to 1 company but we refuse to do anything other than to place them where we think is best for them. The other issue is that since all health insurance selling is in this narrow window (like other agents) the insurance companies are under staffed and under trained. It takes 1 to 5 days to get a return call and 1 to 2 days to get an email response. As a result, it takes us much longer to respond to our clients issues. It makes them anxious and frustrated and makes us look bad. Another frustration is for small business owners with only a husband and wife on payroll. All my groups with that scenario are now BANNED from small group plans and are FORCED to go to individual insurance. Those clients are being hit with double digit rate increase combined with out of pocket maximums doubling. Families with 1 child are saving money but those with 2 kids are seeing modest increases. Those with 3 or more are being hammered with rate increases because family plans don't exist any more under ACA Plans. You must pay rates for the 1st 3 kids under 18 and for those children above 18. I am glad insurance companies cannot deny coverage due to pre existing conditions. However we didn't have to add 23 new taxes in the ACA plans and mountains of administrative paperwork to achieve that goal. There are many hidden secrets in the new plans that will impact people. One is changes in drug formularies. For example, an older plan may charge you a 30% copayment for a tier 4 drug (expensive drug). There would be a cap of $200 per prescription. The supposed better plan has a 30% as well but no cap. Therefore a 2000 drug would now cost 600. Those details are not transparent. More to come

Hey everyone, We are moving our office to 4952 Warner, # 203 in HB on June 1st. Just installed vinyl plank via Kerr Floors yesterday. Roman the handyman is installing molding Saturday. We are adding a new staff member soon for customer service. Nancy has her insurance license and will slowly gravitate to sales. Phone and fax should be the same. Very excited.
