2020 didn’t just change the way we worked and the way we got to see each other, For a lot of us, it also changed our bodies. Whether we were working out less, eating more frequently, or just lacking the motivation to be active.... Here are 5 tips to help you get our of your own way on your style journey! Most people who are struggling to figure out their unique sense of personal style say something like, they have no style, they’re bad at style, or they don’t understand how style works. They’re stuck in the comparison game, constantly looking at other people and wondering.."why am I always doing it wrong?.... They don’t trust their instincts, so rather than being an expert at OWNING their style choices, they’re an expert at getting in their own WAY. Does this sound familiar? Here’s the thing. Every person has a sense of what they like and don’t like when it comes to their clothes. They know what’s them, and they also know what’s totally and entirely not them at all. They may have yet to learn the foundation of style..the general principals that make it easier. They may need some guidance to help get them to the next level. But generally speaking, most people who think they’re struggling with style are focusing too heavily on not getting it wrong, and aren’t paying close enough attention to their gut instincts. In order to find your signature style you might just need to get out of your own way and trust everything you need to figure it out is already inside of you. See more

People buy into the presentation of you before they ever Believe in Buy from.... Or invest in you. Every external resource you feed them, makes the emotional case for what you bring to the table. Your personal presentation should get people interested, wanting to know more, and eager to put in the time in to learn. Leading them down the path to discovering your skills, experience and intelligence. People make decisions about who they want to work with based on on emotions, not facts. Winning the virtual first impression looks a whole lot different than sitting down with a hiring manager. You’re missing the human-to-human interaction and the the non-verbal cues that establish much of the rapport built during an in-person interview. Personality traits shine through both in face-to-face meet-ups and over camera,... But the magnitude of positive attributes is lower and negative attributes is higher on video. Meaning you really have to knock it out of the park on Zoom! Dressing for success in the virtual world means carefully considering not just your clothing, But also the environment in which you choose to present yourself. We know you’re interviewing from home, But for the course of the interview, we almost want to forget! Professionalism is paramount.and that means your surroundings too. Keep your personal life off camera, so as to not cause any distractions, and let your skills and personality do the talking. _____________________ Thank you to BoldTV for the opportunity to share some tips for winning the virtual first impression on your amazing business show. Interview starts at the 12:57 mark in the video! See more

Planning to get healthy might sound like a positive action. But when your motive is based on not feeling good *enough*, You can often do more harm than you do good.... Mainstream media is a culture rooted in thinness as worthiness, health and beauty. And for a lot of people, This perfectionism-narrative reinforces a reality of never measuring up. Which ultimately establishes the toxic cycle of low self-esteem, disordered eating and the annual resolution to lose weight. Health is imperative, there’s no doubting that. But we have to wonder if we shouldn’t first be resolving to love our bodies in their current state. After all, longterm health journeys succeed not because we despise our bodies, But because we love them enough to take care of them. ___________________ Thank you to the amazing WFLA Gayle Guyardo WFLA News Channel 8 Bloom TV for giving a space to talk about this topic and for encouraging people to seek out mindset shifts that will help them to feel more at home in their bodies. https://www.wfla.com//negative-body-image-can-derail-heal/

The idea of personal style comes with a lot of limiting beliefs. > I’m not good at it. > It’s not a skill I was born with.... > I’m not into fashion and therefore it doesn’t matter what I wear. > My body isn’t where it should be (*insert all other negative self-talk here*), so I’m not allowed to care about the way I dress. But the foundation of personal style actually has a lot more to do with personal development than it does style. Mindset is primary. Clothing is secondary. And then style becomes whatever you make it. A big part of building our confidence and empowerment as women, Comes from feeling at home in our bodies.internally and externally. And we feel more at home in our bodies when we own the way we present them. Not based on anyone else’s standards. But strictly based on what feels good to us.in the bodies we have today, not the bodies of next year..in the clothing that says, hey world, this is me!. ______________________ Check out this recent podcast episode on Cherie Burton: Women Seeking Wholeness, For a conversation about finding the clothing that aligns with who you are - inside and out, And the power that comes when you can inhabit your body fully. https://podcasts.apple.com//dressing-as-the-r/id1453232262 See more

Style can feel really overwhelming, especially when you’re trying to develop your ‘look’. You know what you like, You know what you don’t like,... But putting it into action is an entirely different story. You buy new clothes hoping they’ll help you reach your goals, and yet they end up feeling the same as everything else you already own. >> Not horrible, not incredible, and certainly not a reflection of your most amazing inner self. This is the place where 90% of people are stuck. And it has nothing to do with being bad at style. The challenge is that you're missing your foundation, And without that frame of reference, you keep repeating the same choices. So how do you fix it? The solution is actually much easier than you think! It’s all about training your eye and learning exactly what your preferences look like. And the only way to do that is through visuals. After all, style is a self-expression that we see! Start by saving photos of everything you like. Just because you say your style is edgy doesn’t mean you’re clear on what that looks like until you see lots of examples of your definition of edgy. Find people who embody the look you’re going for. Save their best outfits to your collection of photos. (This could also be celebrities, TV characters, co-workers,) Step back and look at your visuals as a whole. This is the most important step! Only in seeing what you like as a WHOLE will you really understand the common THEME. And once you can see the theme, you have a frame of reference to measure everything against. Buying something new? Check to see if it aligns with your visuals. Trying to edit what you already own? Let go of the things that don’t fit the foundation. Learning how to feel good in clothing is all about building a winning strategy for your style! See more

Majority of people wear 20% of the clothing they own. They cycle through those same few pieces, leaving 80% of their closet almost entirely untouched. Every morning they go to get dressed and think,... I have nothing to wear. "I’m sick of my clothes. I know I’ve been shopping but I don’t know what I bought." It seems crazy to think about how common this is. Why would so many people spend so much money on clothing they never use? And the reason is, >> They’re just not sure what to do with what’s hanging in their closet. << If you relate to this struggle then you know the most common attempt at a solution: << Buy new clothes, in hopes that those will be the ones that make your wardrobe feel compete. >> But they never are. Because the problem isn’t the amount. It’s knowing what to do with what you already own. And then making strategic decisions on what to add in the future. If you want to get more out of your wardrobe. And learn how to create outfit combinations with what you already own, We can help! Our Digital Look Books are designed to help you get the full return on what you’ve already invested in your wardrobe. 9 out of 10 emails we receive are from people who've never had an interest in clothes or fashion but simply want to dress better so that they feel better. They're completely overwhelmed at the prospect of starting from zero, because the world of fashion feels wildly complex with millions of unspoken rules and options. Everywhere they look they see people with a natural eye for fashion, not realizing that those people have simply been practicing for longer.... There’s a common misconception that if you don’t have style, you’ll never get it. That some people are born with the gene and if you’re not one of them, there’s no hope. It’s this thought that holds people back from trying, keeping them stuck in a place where they don’t feel great but don’t know how to change their circumstance. The fact of the matter is, style is a learned skill just like any other skill in life. It’s based on a set of practices that can be put in place by anyone. They work if you’re a total newbie and even if you have very little interest in clothing. Having a sense of style is not about wearing what everyone else is wearing or choosing something just because it’s from a popular brand. It's is about consciously putting on whatever makes you feel your best and using clothes as your suit of armor - something that helps you operate in the world at a more powerful, confident level. If you want to demystify style and learn to make it your own, start by: Observing: look at what other people are doing and what your eye is drawn to. The more you study, the more you learn your preferences. Imitating: when you’re just getting started it can feel too challenging to create outfits on your own. Copy something you like with items you already own. Assess what you like/don’t like. Rinse and repeat! Recreating: after some trial and error you’ll have more confidence to branch out on your own. Adapt looks that inspire you by recreating them with your own spin. Getting uncomfortable: The only way to ever get to a place where you can confidently say, yes this is my style is by exposing yourself to a ton of different aesthetics and experimenting, to find out what you like. Give yourself permission to step out of your comfort zone and try things you’ve never allowed yourself to try before

Even though they're a staple all year round, there's something about a blazer in the fall that feels perfect for the season. Partially because they add an extra layer for warmth but mostly because they look so chic and polished. Women often worry that a blazer is too formal, but there's lots of ways you can wear one without looking like you're going to the office.... To master the off-duty fall blazer look: Choose cuts that are less structured and a little bit oversized. Opt for unique colors or prints that feel more stylish and less like they’re part of a suit. Style them with jeans and a basic tee or sweater. Let the blazer be the focal point and keep everything else really simple. Add interest by including a belt over top, which will cinch in your waist and give an updated spin on a classic look. If blazers aren’t yet in your fall repertoire, it might be time to give them a try! What go-to outfits are you excited about this season?

When you buy clothing you picture all the different ways you'll be able to wear your new items. In reality however, you usually end up pairing things in the same few outfit combinations. As human beings, we’re creatures of habit. Once we have a pattern in place, it’s hard for us to break it. ... That new jacket looked so cute when you wore it with your skinny jeans, but now you struggle to see how it also works with skirts and other pants. You style outfits in the same handful of ways and feel like you don’t have anything to wear, even though your closet is filled with options. A great wardrobe doesn’t always require additional shopping, but often just the ability to take what already exists and style it in new ways. And if you’re struggling to figure out how to do that, we’d love to show you how! Using what’s already in your closet, we’ll help you come up with new outfit combinations so your style feels fresh and exciting. We’ll teach you how to get the most use out of what you already own, and provide you with a digital catalogue of outfit ideas for all the different occasions in your life. Made entirely with your own clothes, shoes and accessories! Best of all, we do it all over Zoom - so no matter where you’re located, we can help. Choosing outfits that make you feel good, and allow you to maximize what you already own, should be the simplest decision you make all day! What stories are you telling yourself that are holding you back from reaching your fullest potential? When it comes to your wardrobe, it’s not uncommon to tell yourself a variety of stories about what you’re NOT allowed to wear. Based on reasons that are only reasons because you’ve said they are.... ..As in they are not real! People will judge me. Its ok for her but not me. I’m not allowed to be someone who looks that way. It wouldn’t work on my body. But what happens when you wear the things you think you should wear and not the things you truly want to wear, Is that you hold yourself back from showing the world who you truly are. Your inner self and your outer self don’t match, and a huge part of your personality remains hidden. The world deserves to see you in your truest form. And you deserve to see what kind of opportunities open up to you when you operate from a place of authenticity.
