Yesterday California lifted the COVID-19 ban on high school football. While we won't be able safely cover those games for a little while yet, we are looking forward to seeing our students back in the Midpen Media mobile studio truck!
One week from today, we're hosting our monthly Midpen Movie Night event!
No big budget necessary - only big ideas! Zines are radically expressive and imaginative DIY self-published booklets. They can be about anything, there are no rules, and no two zines are going to look alike. In our upcoming Zinemaking Basics workshop, we'll be opening a creative workspace to help you understand the history of zines as tools for artistic expression and activism, and helping you to envision zine projects of your own. Sign up on Eventbrite! https://www.eventbrite.com/e/zinemaking-basics-online-works
Nearly a year into the pandemic, we revisited leaders serving families in East Palo Alto and Belle Haven - including Ravenswood City School District Superintendent Gina Sudaria, Ecumenical Hunger Program's Nevida Butler, Live In Peace Executive Director Heather Starnes-Logwood, and CEO of Health Plan of San Mateo Maya Altman. Hear updates about the health statistics, the school district's plans, and the ongoing challenges with underemployment, rent, and food insecurity in our community. https://youtu.be/bggcc0Hm4Zc

We are forever grateful to the Midpen Media Center for allowing us the opportunity to create content that encourages us all to live a life of service. These are our stories, authentic and impactful..." This is a quote from Sheryl Staffer, long-time Midpen Media producer of "Veterans Helping Veterans". This Community Media Day, we're celebrating her and the countless other volunteers and producers who make our media-making community a welcoming place for the artists and activists that give Community Media meaning. Read about it on our site!
COMMUNITY MEDIA DAY CONTINUES! We cannot wait for the chance to get back in the studio and return to helping our community produce the public access programs they love. From workout classes and songwriter showcases to interviews with public officials, we are a creative resource that is available to all who wish to create television that tells their story. What's your favorite Midpen Media Production?!
HAPPY COMMUNITY MEDIA DAY! Here's a memory - our Zoom-In classes have provided hands-on and affordable field production skills to our community for years. It brings us such joy to watch first-time producers bring a story to life on the screen. We are so grateful to be bringing the gifts of community media to those we serve. Do you have a favorite Midpen Media memory?
Happy Community Media Day! Today is the annual celebration of voices that bring awareness to the importance of free speech and accessible media for all individuals to have their voices heard. Midpen Media has been providing community media and free speech opportunities to our community for 30 years, and we are so proud of the voices we've had the opportunity to amplify. If community media has brought joy into your life or the lives of those you love, please consider donating to our October fundraiser - we're trying to raise $500 to support Midpen Media's continued programs and services.
October 19 - 25 is Free Speech Week, and we are so proud to celebrate the ongoing free speech opportunities at Midpen Media! Free Speech Week (FSW) is a yearly event to raise public awareness of the importance of freedom of speech and of the press in our democracy- and to celebrate that freedom. As freedom of speech and of the press are rights all Americans share, this non-partisan, non-ideological event is intended to be a unifying celebration. Learn more at the official Free Speech Week website! https://www.freespeechweek.org/about-fsw/
We are so proud to be apart of the amazing Community Media Network. Community Media day is this Tuesday, October 20th, and we are incredibly proud to be celebrating the way that commnity media can change lives!

Thanks to all who tuned in for tonight's "terrifying" film!!! We hope you'll tune in next week for another spooky feature - "Night of the Living Dead"! If you love our movie nights, please consider checking out our October Fundraiser. We're more than halfway to reaching our goal of $500 to support more cool programs like our "Spooky Movie Nights" series! Have a great weekend!
