The perfect day to play in the yard. Got so many things checked off the list. Secured my repurposed screen door/trellis, feed my plants, started the process to put my garden on a drip system, did some pruning and watering and sowed a few seeds. Feeling very productive today! Here’s a few looks at my yard

The perfect size pot can give a broken down chair a second life in the garden I planted a Bapcopia to eventually spill over the side of this antique ice cream parlor chair with charming red flowers. It’s going to be a show stopper, in someone else’s gardenCome on down and see us this Memorial Weekend, if you’re in the area. We’ll be open our regular hours, 10:30-4:30, filled to the gills with all the vintage! Ice Cream Parlor Chair Planter $49.00, Modern Metal Accent Table $39.00, 7 pc Pottery Wine Carafe Set $49.00

New to the shop this week, this heavily detailed side table. I normally don’t paint furniture where the finish is still in good shape, but this baby was crying out for some paint. Her details were hidden with a heavy dark finish, weighting her down and putting her in a somber mood. Lightened up and lightly distressed, she’s ready for a bright new future Shabby Chic Table $75.00, Ladderback Chair $85.00, Glazed Pot $28.00, Twin Crochet Spread $44.00

Gorgeous day on the mountain at Dogwood Hill How lucky am I that this is my view as I hang up my bedding to dry? One of the perks of summer, is line dried sheets. Now I can hardly wait to slip into their crisp fragrance and sleep the night away

Have you heard of the Japanese concept of Wabi Sabi? It’s finding beauty in imperfections. I find much to love in the little primitive stool on top that bench. It’s been much loved it’s whole life, being repaired numerous times. Most recently it was myself, seeing its value, and giving it a minor repair so that it can give good service once again. I think we need more Wabi Sabi in all areas of our lives, don’t you? Bench $25.00, Needlepoint Stool $35.00, Brass Milk Can $65.00, Primitive Stool $39.00, Oakland Brass Milk Can $92.00, Pacific Coast Glassworks 5 Gal Demi John w/ Orig Crate $215.00

Part of the fun of my job is all the cool places I get to see hunting treasure for y’all. Today’s adventure took me high up in the hills by Middletown, to Harbin. Established as a hot spring resort in the 1800’s, it’s worn many faces, the newest a result of the 2015 Valley Fire, when it burnt to the ground. Rising from the ashes is this trippy, futuristic building to house guests. I got to sit by the pool here today, and the vibes were very mellow, I was instantly relaxed looking out over the valley towards St Helena Mt. If you ever get the chance to visit, please do.

Honestly I am becoming the go-too place for wayward dolls. Why, because I have a soft heart and let sentimentality get in the way of sound decisions Meet Molly, on the right, her owner has passed away and it was either living at the shop or going to the dump. Her little brown eyes begged me to save her from that cruel proposition, me, who doesn’t particularly like dolls. Poor Molly has led a tough life (haven’t we all) If you can find it in your heart to love Molly as much ...as her original owner did, I’d gladly give her to you. Come on into the shop when I’m working and claim your love for her, and she can be yours, or pay the postage to anywhere in the world. I think Molly deserves to be loved again Molly-Free, Antique Kestner #154 Porcelain Doll $199.00, Antique Wicker & Wood Highchair $55.00, Handmade Childs Sweater $28.00, Vintage Baby Dress $12.00

Since apparently my rhododendrons despise me, absolutely refusing to bloom, no matter what I do to them, I’m sharing this totally neglected rhododendron by the village post office. I guess that’s my next course of action, to totally neglect mine, and pretend like I just don’t care

I’m often asked, what do you collect? The answer is not so easy. Here’s a peek into my oak curio cabinet. Clearly I’m a sucker for a statue, and anything iconically Canadian, hello Mr Mountie I like old British Royalty stuff, and evidently Blue Willow. A couple of collections are inherited, like my dads carved nut animals and my husbands grandmas spoon collection. It’s whatever makes my heart beat fast, an instant knowing of- I have to have that! Know what I mean?

Aren’t clouds magical? One of the reasons to love winter in #norcal is the beautiful clouds. Summer is usually a cloudless time, just endless blue skies for months. Clouds add a sense of adventure and surprise. Clouds are for dreaming I’m dreaming of better days ahead, join me and it’s sure to come true

New to the shop this week, one of these chairs. Though they aren’t a pair, they could be! I just #upcycled that canebacked armchair to go with the one already at the shop. They’d be cool at the head and foot of a dining table, or in a special corner of your house. I love the vintage 1940’s fabric so much I only use it for special projects like this It’s unusual to see floral with a brown background. So pretty. I love everything about these 1970’s chairs Chairs $55.0 ea, Bombay 3 Leg Table $44.00, Roseville Pot $175.00

Woke up to such a foggy morning, it was like pea soup out there. When you live on a mountain, sometimes you live in a cloud. Kinda fun, as you can drive out of it by going down the mountain By afternoon the clouds had gone away, and the sun felt warm on my face. Who’s getting sick of their winter clothes? Can’t wait for dresses and sandals weather!

A spectacular sunset after a very rainy Sunday. So grateful for all the folks who stopped by the shop, and grateful for the cozy fire in the wood stove keeping me and them warm. Hope your day was awesome too!

On my days off I don’t like to leave the house, not even to the local grocery store. When I found my craving for potato salad stymied by only a tiny bit of mayonnaise in the bottom of the jar, I had to get creative. With only 5 pantry staples and my emersion blender, 10 seconds later, delicious homemade Mayo. So simple and easy and delicious The potato salad was all the better for it as well!
