We are leaning hard into faith over fear right now with the current state of the world with Coronavirus. No doubt it’s scary times right now with so many theories and so many unknowns, but we choose not to let that fear creep in. Instead, focusing on all we do have that is beautiful. Use this time to love on your family and spend quality time together. Reconnect with each other and yourself without the distractions of the outside world. Be prepared. Be calm. Be mindful. Be re...sponsible. Be compassionate. Be kind. It may be hard, but we’ll get through it. Sending love and prayers to you all : Katie Lamb

I haven’t posted much on the homeschool front lately. Let’s just say 1st grade is a MUCH bigger time commitment and requires much more energy than kinder did that’s for sure. We had a few ROUGH weeks recently. I'll be honest, during that time, most days I dreaded homeschooling because it was a STRUGGLE. Anything art, science, math, or social studies related and he'd rock it! BUT every single time he had to read, do copywork. or anything language arts related, he'd fight me o...n it. He'd get frustrated to the point of tears. He'd cry. I'd cry. And it was a mess. I second-guessed whether I was cut out for this, if we needed a different approach, or if this was the best journey for us more times than I can count. It was really rough and hard on me as a mom (thank goodness for wine, my hubby and my bestie @mrsbrittmayer to get me through it). BUT, here's the thing- we did get through it. As my dad always would say, This too shall pass. Some days are still a challenge and I know there will be more struggles and challenges ahead, but seeing how much he has grown and how well he is now reading (without tears) is one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had. He may exhaust and challenge me like no other, but I am so damn proud of this kid! Someone may need to here this today. Sometimes it’s hard to see past the struggles when you’re in the thick of it. God never said that the journey would be easy, but he did say that the arrival would be worthwhile." ~~Max Lucado

Asking for prayers It was the weekend before Christmas when mom reached out to me late that Friday afternoon. I had just finished reading, The Christmas Tapestry, to my boys for the first time. It was a new book we added to advent this past Christmas. It has a tear jerker of an ending, but such a beautiful, beautiful message in this book. It teaches about hope, faith, and that nothing happens by chance. Everything in the universe is woven together beautifully and se...amlessly by God. As I finished reading this book to my boys and wiping the tears from my eye, I got a phone call which I didn't answer. On our way driving to a living nativity at Gray's school that evening, I listened to the message. This mama called me and left a voice message pouring her heart out and sharing her story. Her husband, Doug was recently diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer. She said all she could think about on the drive home from receiving this news was that they didn't have any photos together as a family and how much she wanted to document this season while Doug was still strong and healthy. I literally got chills at the timing of this call. In my 8 years of photography, I have never gotten a call like this. I knew immediately God was calling upon me to share my gift and provide a glimmer of hope, love, and comfort to this family during this tragic time. I share this story as a testimony of how God weaves everything in life together so beautifully, even when at times it is extremely difficult for us to understand what those plans are. God's love is greater than anything. And most importantly, I share this story to ask for your prayers. Doug is having scans done today to see if his treatment is working. I ask you to PLEASE SAY A PRAYER that the scans show promising indications that his treatment is working. The power of prayer is so powerful. <3

Can’t believe it’s almost 2020. It’s the end of a decade and what a decade it’s been. It was full of love, loss, heartbreak, excitement, adventure, heaviness, challenges, new life, and new beginnings. We experienced many, many beautiful moments. We got married, moved to San Diego, bought our first house, became parents welcoming two baby boys, I quit my full time sales job, started my photography business, transitioned to cleaner eating and a healthier lifestyle, tr...aveled to 19 countries, began homeschooling, became closer to God, and began the start of a spiritual journey. It was also full of many, many dark and heart wrenching moments. We said goodbye to my dad, my grandparents who were like second parents to me, my brother, and my mother-in-law. Those moments brought us to our knees, brought excruciating pain that will never fully heal, and tested our strength like no other. My eyes were peeled open to the very scary reality that Big Pharma controls everything (media, businesses, politicians, science, our medical system), I watched our freedoms slowly be stripped away, and California, the place I once loved, slowly become a place I sadly want to leave. Through it all, I have learned and grown so much over the past 10 years. The most important takeaway for me (as cliche as it may sound) is that tomorrow is not promised, so live for today and soak in every single moment you can with gratitude and being fully present, not worrying about the future or carrying around the past, but living in that very moment. In the NOW. It’s still a work in progress and I think it always will be, but I am much more mindful of it. I look forward and welcome the start of a new year and a new decade with all that it has in store with an open heart. Cheers to 2020!
