A lesson from your lady, laundry tech: I just came from a customer whose dryer was taking too long to dry the clothes. Some times two and three cycles to get the clothes dry. The issue is that the area in which their dryer vents to is clogged with lent, not allowing for good ventilation. If the dryer does not have good air flow; you have longer dry times, kill the efficiency of your dryers energy cost, put undue stress on the machine and most of all, increase your risk of... having a dryer fire and burning your house down. Check your dryer vent every few months for lint buildup. Most people do not realize that the lint trap does not catch all of the lint. It passes by it, through the venting, and exits your house. When your vent starts to buildup lint and restrict airflow, it actually will build up inside the cabinet also(where you can not see, next to the heat source electric heating element or gas burner). It is recommended that both, the inside of your dryer and the external venting be cleaned once a year. Not only will you be boosting your dryers effenciy, but you will be reducing your fire hazard. It's a win, win. Remember, Only you can prevent a dryer fire! P.s. I am available for preventative maintenance checks. Part of that check is cleaning the lint from inside your dryer.

A lesson from your lady, laundry tech: I constantly hear people make the statement that their washer or dryer is old, and that they should just buy a new one (whether still working, or costs a lot to fix). WRONG!!!... New is NOT better when it comes to appliances. By the way, that's all appliances, not just washers and dryers. And especially true if you still have an older, top load washer. Just because your appliance is "old", don't think that the new junk they sell today is a better option. The old saying is true, "they don't make them like they used to." Back in the day, the manufacturers cared about the product they were producing. They used materials and workmanship that they were proud of. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. We now live in a "throw away" society, with the attitude of, "if it breaks, I'll buy a new one." Because of that attitude, manufactures produce their products with "built in obsolescence." The more and more that technology is incorporated into things they less and less reliable it becomes. In fact, several studies have been conducted and the average life expectancy of ANY new appliance these days is only 3 to 5 years. In simple terms, they don't care about the appliance "taking a licking and keep on ticking." Back in the day, appliances were manufactured to last 30+ years, and they did. Appliances were more mechanical and less smart. Yes, they are less energy efficient and may cost a few more bucks to operate, but they will cost less in the long run with the repair/replace costs.
