FRESNO COUNTY HORSE PARK OFFICIAL STATEMENT John Marshall, the organizer of Fresno County Horse Park, has notified the Area VI council that 2020 will be his f...inal year. Fresno County Horse Park is a vital part of Area VI Eventing, offering events for all levels as well as schooling and clinic opportunities and the best cross country footing in Area VI. John has gone far above and beyond his role of organizer since taking control of the venue in 2012, and we owe him a tremendous thank you for all he has done for this venue and our sport as a whole! In 2012 Bill and Margaret Burton announced they were going to close what was then known as Ram Tap. In order to keep Ram Tap open, John purchased Bill’s equipment and took over the land rental agreements and has operated it since that time. John’s hope is that someone will purchase his equipment and improvements, take over the land rental agreements for approximately 140 acres, and continue operating the Horse Park. If someone doesn’t take it over by the first of the year John plans to offer the vehicles, equipment, 3 barns, and jumps for sale to be sold off individually. The loss of Fresno County Horse Park to Area VI would be monumental. We ask that any interested parties please contact John Marshall for information. . . . #Areavi #areavieventing #areavieventers #announcement #fchp #fresnocountyhorsepark

Due to weeks of unhealthy air, we are following UC Davis guidelines and rescheduling our Fall Dressage Schooling Show to October 18th. This will allow horses to #recuperate and get back to work. Riders are welcome to trailer in and practice on the court before the show, members only on non show days. ARE YOU PREPARED FOR AN EQUINE EMERGENCY? Preparation is vital when confronted with a medical emergency. No matter the situation you may face, mentally rehearse... the steps you will take to avoid letting panic take control. Following these guidelines may help you prepare for an equine emergency: 1. Keep your veterinarian’s number in your phone, including how the practitioner can be reached after hours. 2. Consult with your regular veterinarian regarding a back-up or referring veterinarian’s number in case you cannot reach your regular veterinarian quickly enough. 3. Know in advance the most direct route to an equine surgery center in case you need to transport the horse. 4. Store the names and phone numbers of nearby friends and neighbors who can assist you in an emergency while you wait for the veterinarian. 5. Prepare a first aid kit (see graphic for a short list of essential items) and store it in a clean, dry, readily accessible place. Make sure that family members and other barn users know where the kit is. Also keep a first aid kit in your horse trailer or towing vehicle, and a pared-down version to carry on the trail. Many accidents can be prevented by taking the time to evaluate your horse’s environment and removing potential hazards. Mentally rehearse your emergency action plan. In an emergency, time is critical. Don’t be concerned with overreacting or annoying your veterinarian. By acting quickly and promptly, you can minimize the consequences of an injury or illness. For more information about emergency care, ask your equine veterinarian or visit aaep.org.
