Hello Everyone! We still need fosters, even temporary fosters to join our foster team to help us with adults that need TLC and young kitten fosters. Some of our fosters have stepped up in big ways by taking on two to three segregated litters at a time. Our hard working fosters need a break too especially with summer vacations coming up. We have over 200 cats and kittens in our care and even though we are not taking on more cases, we still have daily operations and matienence ...of those in our care. In a recent poll post we asked about barriers for fostering. There were a lot of mixed responses and some said: I work full time or I have kids or I have other cats that won't get along. If you work full time, that's ok! There are plenty of cases that can free roam meaning provide food and water for the day and they are pretty self-maintained with little to no monitoring required. We won't ever give you a case your schedule doesn't permit you to take on or that you don't feel comfortable with If you have kiddos, that's ok! Typically we ask these questions to find best fit for a foster or adoption situation. Depending on how old your kiddos are, we welcome fostering as a family project If you have other pets, that's ok! Usually if the fosters are unvetted meaning they are awaiting vaccines or other things, we ask that they are kept from personal pets anyway for health and safety reasons that we definitely explain upon onboarding. If you are taking on an adult foster, sometimes it would be worth introducing them for socialization. Sometimes they just click and relax when they find companions in the home. Kitties are like people, all personality types. -marissa

It is truly difficult to post this but it's time to announce publicly that as of September 1st we will be saying goodbye to our Goodcat Doctor, Carly Titanich. Dr. Carly has made the difficult choice to move back home to Canada to be closer to family and we are so grateful for the few years that she has helped us save sooo many kitties. With this news, unless we miraculously find a full time doctor before then, Goodcat Veterinary Hospital will be closing it's doors mid Augus...t. We are working to find a doctor to save the hospital but we still have not found anyone willing to take this on. Please know that we are aware that this will impact our community and we are doing everything we can to ensure MeowCo will survive this transition, but be patient as it will take us some time to rebuild. If anyone knows any Veterinarians and would be willing to join a nonprofit please reach out asap. -Sarah Tietjens Executive Director #savethekitties See more

Happy Monday Everyone, We have touched briefly in the last couple months on needing help in different ways. Fostering is a major part of our organization. Work full time? That's alright, we always need adult fosters who don't need hourly monitoring like babies and we always need temporary one week placements for adults too! We have all kinds of fosters that work with different kitties for an array of needs.... We also need daily tasks done as well within our building, needs for our program, and additional volunteers to help us connect with the community. Examples: Shelter cleaning volunteers, dump runs, honey-do's like painting and repairs or building maintenance, making incubators out of plastic tubs or sewing beds and rice socks. Also recruitment and engagement! Please message us with any questions. We look forward to hearing how you'd like to help save the kitties! No job or task is too small. We need all hands on deck! Foster Group: must be an onboarded foster to join. Message us if you have any questions about becoming a MeowCo Foster! https://www.facebook.com/groups/3316187561799142/ Volunteer Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/312119677150250/

Murphy is resting comfortably and getting some much needed attention while the antibiotics do their job. We're hoping that the anemia is caused by a blood parasite, which the doxycycline will knock out pretty quickly. Please keep him in your thoughts and if you're interested in a long term adult foster please email [email protected] to get started #savethekitties #rescuesaveslives

This sweet girl has a really sad story. Someone reached out to us because they had discovered that their neighbor had passed away and this poor cat was chained up, tied to a chair. We were told that she spent the majority of her life tied to that chair because her previous owner was mentally disabled. She's malnourished because she was being fed treats as food for quite awhile. We worked on her for over an hour before we finally could bathe her to get all of the caked flea...s off, and we had to peel her collar off that was becoming embedded in her skin. This case fortunately already has a happy ending because she already has someone who has stepped up and is willing to Foster to adopt Rescue saves lives, and today this baby girl got a new chance at life #rescuesaveslives #savethekitties See more

Meet Murphy We were contacted by city shelter that this cat needed urgent rescue and we knew we couldn't say no. He is really really emaciated and his fur is matted and patchy but despite all of this he is incredibly loving and trusting. He just wants to be held and loved We'll update you on his progress ... #savethekitties #rescuesaveslives See more

It is with a really heavy heart that we tell you that Joy, our little miracle passed away. The abcess did end up being dental, but it had grown into too many areas of her face. The infection had eaten away at her jaw and she had too much bleeding We did absolutely everything we could for her, but sometimes it's not enough. Rescue is hard, and it's so hard not to get attached because we develop emotional connections with every cat we rescue. Thank you so much to Goodcat Veterinary Hospital for the extraordinary care and effort they put in to save her life. The remainder of the funds raised in her name will go towards 3 more eye enucleation cases and an amputation we just took in #rescueneverstops

Christmas Miracle Part 2 in progress We were contacted earlier this evening about some newborn kittens left in a box on someone's property. We were told that they were cold and wet so we acted immediately and arranged pickup. They were cleaner than expected but were indeed cold and two still had the placenta attached. They are currently being evaluated and will hopefully go into foster asap. While not impossible, sometimes kittens are born outside of kitten season but that's when we have to act quickly because it's soo cold outside and kittens are so very fragile. Even on Christmas Day rescue never ends and we are grateful to be wrapping up this year doing what we do best- saving at risk orphaned kittens and cats #savethekitties #miracleshappen #rescuesaveslives

Our newest bottle baby sisters Clary and Izzy cuddling to stay warm Did you know that neonatal kittens can't regulate their own temperature? They must always have a heat source close by like a heating pad or a warm rice sock, and always be able to safely crawl away from the heat in case they get overheated. #savethekitties #adoptdontshop

Kitten season may be coming to an end but we are still getting so many calls about injured and stray cats and kittens. This scared baby came in today with a badly broken leg, we are hoping it can be set with a split but if not she's going to need an amputation Keep her in your thoughts and we will keep you posted in case we need to fundraise for the surgery #savethekitties

Fury is looking for her happy ending with her furrever family! Fury has had a very hard start to life, and came to MeowCo with severe infections in both eyes. The infection ate away at any healthy tissue in one eye and left the other severely damaged, but left her loving heart untouched! Fury is extremely easy-going and loves to sleep at the foot of your bed or lay beside you while you watch tv. She has learned to overcome her disability by using ramps and steps to get up to high places that she needs to go. She gets along well with other animals, but would prefer a quieter home. If you’d like to adopt Fury, please email [email protected] Check out the comments for a cute video of her playing!

We named these babies Amelia and Maverick They're still receiving supportive care at Goodcat Veterinary Hospital and we're starting to see a change in their anemia!!! Look at those pink noses, that's a good sign! Thank you to everyone who has donated towards their care, we know they're going to rack up a hefty bill by the time this is all done. Thank you so much for helping us in our mission to #savethekitties
