Good Evening Menlo Community, Thank you all for your patience as we manage our emergency restroom maintenance. At this time we have a sewer line broken. This will take about a week or more to repair. During this time there is a public restroom in between the baseball fields that is open for your use. As you come to the pool you will see construction going on by the Laurel St side of the building. However, you should not be impacted by the construction as it is on the other si...de of the building from the main entrance. Thank you again for your patience during this time. - Steve

Hello Everyone, I hope this message finds everyone well and happy to be in the water! I can't begin to tell you how good it feels to have some consistent days of normal operations and I'm sure you feel the same way. We have come a long way as a community and continue to have success because of the support of each other. I would like to thank all of you for adhering to the guidelines as much as possible while using the aquatic facility! I would like to take a moment and remind... everyone of a few operations and safety Items. As I have told staff from the beginning it is actually much easier to follow the guidelines in the beginning of these type of events. It's the long term that is harder to comply with. We have been noticing a majority of the community members adhering to the guidelines that are required. However, we have been noticing more and more people starting to become relaxed around the pool with some of these guidelines. This is no fault to anyone as it is human nature to have this happen. I have needed to remind myself to stay on the ball as it is imperative that we are all working together to keep us all safe and most importantly healthy. If staff says something to you regarding any of the following guidelines please be kind and willing to follow what they are asking of you. Guidelines 1. Wear a mask while you enter and exit the facility 2. Social Distance 6ft and more if possible 3. Please follow the flow of traffic through out the facility These items are non-negotiable and are in place for everyone's safety. At the end of the day it shows care for those around you and yourself. A few other things we really need your support on 1. Please no deck changing 2. Please place your things near your lane cone 3. Please be timely on exiting on your way out of the pool by listening for the whistle. Do not ignore the guards to get in a few extra laps. This has become more and more of an issue and we do not want to be pool police. We want to keep it kind and welcoming while supporting each other so we can all share the wonderful resource of the pool. As we go through the months ahead we may need to change the way we operate due to weather and other issues that might arise. We are working on plans to keep your things dry, but it may rain before we can get things into place. Please be prepared for this as we need everyone to still follow the guidelines when it rains. As we go along I will keep you updated as we make changes to improve as always. I can not begin to tell you how I have appreciated everyone's support during these times with your kind words and help to ensure we are all safe, healthy and swimming. This is a reminder for us all, including me, and this pandemic is not over yet. I truly care for all of you and know we can do this! If you have any questions or concerns please reach out! Thank you all!!! - Steve

Menlo Swim and Sport 29.08.2020

Good Evening Aquatic Community! We had such a wonderful day today! It's looking like we may be in for a wonderful week of swimming with an easterly wind blowing; so smoke is not in our back yard for some time. Our hearts and minds are still with everyone up north. We are still working on partnering with a few organizations to help respond. Unfortunately with the pandemic, it has been very difficult to find a way for us to be called into action, but I am hopeful we will have s...ome action items soon. Tomorrow (Monday, October 5th) we are open at Belle Haven and Burgess and I look forward to seeing everyone! We are already into October and this is literally my favorite time of year. It always starts beginning to feel like change is upon us in Fall. Plus there are so many cool aspects of Fall that I love.... Carving pumpkins being one of them... never stop being a kid. With a hopeful and grateful heart! - Steve

Thank you all so so so much! - Steve

Menlo Swim and Sport 20.07.2020

Good Evening Everyone, This is not the way we wanted to start the weekend, but here we are. Instead of playing the guessing game tomorrow we are making a precautionary decision to CLOSE for the day (Saturday, October 3rd) at Burgess & Belle Haven due to poor air quality. We know how much you all look forward to coming to the pool, especially on the weekend, so it's a big bummer.... I will be posting an update tomorrow afternoon discussing the rest of the weekend plans. Stay positive and try and get some good sleep tonight, - Steve

Menlo Swim and Sport 17.07.2020

Good Morning Everyone, Darn. We were hoping for the morning to clear up, but it looks like that won't be happening. We will be CLOSED for the remainder of the day at Belle Haven and Burgess (Friday, October 2nd).... Let's hope the skies clear up and give us a great weekend. We'll be in touch! Thank you all, - Steve

Menlo Swim and Sport 27.06.2020

Good Evening All, I hope everyone is doing well tonight. At this point the smoke is just too bad for it to change by morning. With current weather patterns I don’t see much change for now. Sleep well and I will update around 10:00am tomorrow morning (Friday, October 2nd). I know for me, I’ve been trying to use the Calm App in the mornings. Hard at first, but a great habit to start! By no means do I get a kick back from Calm for this plug! Ha, full transparency, but it’s a gr...eat way to focus on good things! More goodness tomorrow. Gratefully and take care - Steve

Menlo Swim and Sport 22.06.2020

Good Afternoon Everyone, Unfortunately the air is getting worse very quickly. We will be CLOSING down Belle Haven and Burgess for the remainder of today (Thursday, Oct 1st) due to poor air quality. We will keep you posted with updates about tomorrow's procedures later on.... Stay safe and thank you! - Steve

Menlo Swim and Sport 14.06.2020

Good Morning Everyone, It looks like the skies are getting better! I am happy to report we will be opening at 10:00am this morning at both Belle Haven and Burgess. We are getting staff ready to open up the facilities.... Thank you all for your patience and for putting up with our multiple emails regarding today! Better safe than sorry! See you at the pool! - Steve

Menlo Swim and Sport 05.06.2020

Morning Aquatic Community, I hope this message finds you well this morning. As you all can see we are in the middle of some high numbers and some numbers that we could barely open with. The way the wind looks like its going we should be able to open in a few hours. I hope you are able to stay in bed little longer or enjoy the morning with a cup of something good. We will be closed until 10:00am at both Belle Haven and Burgess this morning and reevaluate then.... More communication to come as soon. We will try to open as soon as possible so stay tuned. - Steve

Menlo Swim and Sport 20.05.2020

Good Evening Everyone, I know everyone has missed my morning, mid morning, afternoon and nightly communications... so we are back at it once again! I know this is such a bummer for us that we had to close this afternoon. It's a tough year with so many people impacted on so many different events merging upon us. This one particularly hits me hard as I used to live in St. Helena and know many people impacted by this fire. My heart breaks for them and those in the other fires as... I had many friends and family in those. I am sure many of you are in the same situation of knowing people and having wonderful memories in some of these magical places. I am acutely aware that during these times of deep trials locally, in our country and world are extreme, but there is hope. I am reminded of redwood trees. These tree have seen the best and worst of the world but somehow find a way to survive and still look stunning (FANCY). Some of you may know this about these trees, but they have shallow roots and for such a huge tree this would sound like they would topple very easily. Although they have shallow roots they look for other trees like them and join up to stay strong; interweaving themselves to withhold thousands of years of fires and storms. To me, this is amazing. If we as a community hold on to each other and face things big and small together we will over come these obstacles. We will look back and be grateful for the tree next to us that helped us get through. Some of us might get a few scares, but scares are cool. Ask all the kids. We have this moment in time as another opportunity to support each other and I truly hope you take the opportunity to lock in roots with those around you and weather these storms together. We will be at the pool when we can with a joyful and grateful heart! Tomorrow am I will send out an email at 5:00am to let you know if we will be open. Fingers crossed. Blessings to all of you - Steve
