Do you love immaculate trails? So do we! The best way to maintain excellent trails is by respecting mother nature and not using trails when they are wet. During... and directly following heavy rain events like this week’s storm, trail use can leave deep tracks that harden into ruts and further exacerbate erosion. A good rule of thumb to follow is if you’re leaving tracks, it’s too wet to use the trails! Despite the sunny weekend we have ahead of us, it’s a good idea to keep off the dirt for the days ahead so we can give things a few days to dry out. Closures in place right now: - Wilder Ranch State Park backcountry trails (everything on the mountain side of the park) are closed until further notice. - All trails in Soquel Demonstration State Forest are closed until further notice. If you don’t want gunk in your face, water bottle or all along your back, mudguards are a must in the cold weather months! Also, as a courtesy to anyone riding directly behind you!

The winter is coming and as some of you might hang up your bike in garage and wait for spring, the others cycling throughout the year need to get ready and dress well for the cold days.

When prepping for a cold weather ride you may feel the need to overdress. Resist the urge! You may start out cold for about 10 minutes but you’ll find that you warm up easier than you thought. Experiment with proper layers so that you don’t overheat!
