We who live on the Mendocino Coast are spoiled by the incredible panoramas around us. The ocean and the headlands are a constantly changing vista. We must not take it for granted. Without proper stewardship it well not last for future generations. Find out what you can do to help preserve our natural wonders. The Mendocino Headlands, just beside the Village, are an especially stunning location. They are part of the State Parks system. Thousands of folks see them each year and marvel at their incredible and changing vistas. Join MendoParks or volunteer in one of these places. There is always a need for more help. Go to this site to find out about opportunities to be a park volunteer. We’re all in this together. https://www.calparks.org/what-were-d/park-advocacy-day-2021 Photography by John Birchard.

Paul Dimmick Campground is open! No reservations required. Enjoy this sweet spot within Navarro River Redwoods State Park along the beautiful Navarro River
Bowling ball beach is a spectacular example of the varieties of coastline wonders we have here on the Mendocino Coast. From dramatic arches to high headlands to wide sandy beaches one can experience time and time again the wonder of our shoreline. Ride a horse, ride a wave, hike a trail, or just sit and meditate. At MendoParks we support the State Parks in their efforts to protect and promote the enjoyment of these places. Won’t you join us in our efforts for the common good? Photo by John Birchard

Happy #worldsoceanday "World Oceans Day reminds every one of the major role the oceans have in everyday life. They are the lungs of our Planet and a major source of food and medicine and a critical part of the biosphere. The purpose of the Day is to inform the public of the impact of human actions on the ocean, develop a worldwide movement of citizens for the ocean, and mobilize and unite the world’s population on a project for the sustainable management of the world's oc...eans." Really well done presentation! While this webinar is focused on Maidu culture, he does an incredible job shining light on myths regarding Native California, which includes over 300 distinct tribes! Plus, acorns, Acorns, ACORNS!!!! MendoParks is grateful to partner with local tribes to build park projects that are inclusive and respectful, and to enhance the visitor experience by correcting the misinformation and indoctrination that has unfortunately shaped the public's understanding Indigenous People. https://scvtv.com//all-about-acorns-from-california-india/
