So grateful to EveryMom for chatting with me about post tantrum happenings. I talked about emotions, vulnerability, but most importantly, repair from a non-violent framework. I really spoke from experience on this one. Parenting small children during a pandemic is an epic exercise in humility and repair. May you and your littles experience more times of connection and laughter, and repair after those hard moments. Having conversations about challenging feelings, while feeling safe and loved, is such a healthy way to express love, but also to model healthy communication and limit setting. We want our kids to learn that repair is possible
I chimed in on this EveryMom article re: having the sex talk with kids. Check it out! (P.s. I love a Lizzie Goodman’s authenticity and vulnerability). https://theeverymom.com/how-i-botched-the-sex-talk-with-my/
Today my trainer bright up the topic of self-sabotaging our goals in relation to wellness. Self-sabotage is something I have lots of personal experience with. One day, I stumbled upon a short Rumi poem that I deeply resonated with. Hope you enjoy. https://www.sofiamendozalcsw.com/anxiety/self-sabotage/
Taking my own advice on this Elecrion Day.
Absolutely proud of my newest coloring book. "Respirando Como Mariposas" is the Spanish edition of "Breathing Butterflies." It's available on Amazon and ready to ship. A big thank you to Victoria Pennock for editing the translation for me. Invaluable support to me and the community.
Great Video on DBT skills to get parents, teachers, and students to cope with the times.
I’ve had this orchid for over two years now. My sister-in-law gave it to me for mother’s day 2018. I was in the process of moving into my new office. So I brought it here. She (the orchid) loved it here. Ive had 2-4 blooms in the last two years. I researched orchid care and learned that most people over water them or think they’re dead when the flowers fall off. So while I appreciate it’s gorgeous bloom and feel like it’s such a treat and offering for me to see, I humbly wate...r her weekly. Knowing that today’s water isn’t going to make her bloom tomorrow, but when she’s ready to. My clients and I have conversations about this orchid. And when she blooms they get so excited too. We talk about the process of patience within any transformation. We talk about necessary daily nurturing. This orchid has taught me and my clients so much!! And to top it off, she’s growing a brand new orchid at top. Apparently, that’s pretty rare. Oh, I’m so grateful. I’m grateful because I was so scared that she might have died since I didn’t make it to the office to water her as much. I’ve been doing sessions from home. But I’ve started to come to my office weekly for some quiet time in the very early morning. I will say, that I had to cut some of the branches off. When I did that, she birthed a new plant. Man, that’s so indicative of where I am in my life, work, and projects. I think sometimes we hold on to dead branches hoping for another bloom. Did you know that dead branches on a plant takes up plant energy and resources to bloom? Setting limits and boundaries are akin to cutting off. What branches do you think you need to cut off in your life? #boundaries #mendingroots #poctherapist #longbeach #orchid #transformation See more
