Whiskey Wednesday Announcement! We at Melrose Umbrella Co. are excited to bring to you a blast from whiskey past with Jim Beam's Old Tub Bottled in Bond Bourbon whiskey and our limited edition run of hand-numbered 16oz Old Tub classic old fashioneds. Old Tub gets its name from the old mash tub that produced the original Jim Beam whiskey in 1795 when Beam first started selling whiskey, and became the official name of Jim Beam in 1892. Unfortunately 23 years later, prohibition... shuttered the distillery and after repeal the Beam family refocused their energy on the Jim Beam brand. Old Tub continued to be produced but stayedin Kentucky and eventuallywas only sold at the Jim Beam distillery. This Old Tub release stays true to the pre-prohibition style utilizing the originalmash bill of 75% corn, 13% rye and 12% wheat, is non-chill filtered and bottled in bond. This means it has been aged for 4 years and is adelicious 100 proof, perfect for sipping straight or mixing into your favorite pre-prohibition Bourbon cocktail. Old Tub will be available for purchase at the Umbrella Bottle Shop for $29 and in a limited edition run of 20 Old Tub Old Fashioneds for $40. We designed our Old Tub Old Fashioned to characterize as best we could, what an old fashioned may have tasted like in the late 1800's when Old Tub was being sold and the cocktail was rumoredto have been invented.
