A gentle reminder to take care of yourselves especially during the pandemic. Outdoor walks, Vit C and D, elderberry for immune boosting and plenty of water. Chiropractic, acupuncture and massage clinics are open and operating safely. One of my go to’s is the Joint Chiropractic in Glendale. Dr. Andrew has saved my back more than once. He is like the chiro whisperer! The Joint Chiropractic Walk in appointments for $39. #LoveTheJoint

January newsletter I can see the light! Many of us are breathing easier with the change of administration yesterday and the coming of vaccines available to us. It has been a very hard year of isolating, loss of income, and general fear and dread in the midst of the sickness and unfathomable numbers of our citizens dying of Covid.... Hope is on the way! If you are a senior 65 and up, you can sign up now for your vaccine. https://mail.google.com/mail/u/1/ As a massage therapist working in a medical office, I was able to get the first Moderna shot a few weeks ago. Aside from a soar arm at the injection point, my side effects were a slight headache and a rash or hives that appeared on my other forearm a week later. I applied hydrocortisone and took a Benedryll which cleared it up. I've heard other reports of fever, hives and headaches from colleagues that have received their shots but these are all temporary and not severe. The relief I felt after receiving my vaccine was profound. I encourage all of you to sign up when it's available to you. I continue to see clients, although most of you are still isolating which I respect. I am here for you when you are ready to return. I am practicing as safely as possible in a ventilated room. Masks are mandatory at the office and everything is sanitized before, in between and after clients' visits. I hope you are all doing well. I miss you! And I can't wait for all of this to be over. Take care of yourselves~ Meg Aguilar, CMT 510-872-9909 my schedule: Mon, Wed, Thurs @ Dr. Bruce Jacobs 3510 1/2 Ocean View Blvd. Montrose 91208 now available for outcalls for a $50 fee (depending on location) incalls also available in my back studio in Boyle Heights my ongoing specials: $25 off on your birthday week $20 off if you refer a friend $10 off if you take the time to review me on Yelp.com https://www.yelp.com/biz/meg-aguilar-cmt-glendale-3 thanks for your continued support! http://megaguilar.massagetherapy.com/

staying healthy. It's never been more important to get rest, stay grounded, eat well and boost your immune system. I suggest adding extra Vit C, magnesium and elderberry to your supplement intake if you haven't already. This pandemic has been challenging for so many of us. Business owners with no safety net are having to close again, and so many gig workers and self employed people like myself have seen incomes disappear. I feel you. ... Through it all, we can focus on our health and not take it for granted. Every day I am grateful to be alive in the midst of all of the suffering. I can celebrate with cooking delicious meals, hiking outside or cuddling with my pups. What is important has been whittled down to what is right in front of us. Our bodies, ourselves. Family, pets, house, yard. I'm choosing to revel in the simplicity of it all because right now, there isn't really an alternative. I've chosen to use my time wisely - to take flamenco classes online, to write and play music, to stay occupied by catching up on documentaries and reading the newspaper front to back. There are upsides to this! I wanted to check in with you all to let you know I am still taking clients. Personal services have been shut down again but since I am in a doctor's office, I am still allowed to practice medical massage (masks required). I continue to get tested regularly and have the room set up so it's ventilated but still warm and cozy on the table. I also have gift certificates available that I can send in the mail to you or anyone on your gift list. Just let me know and we can arrange that. Wishing you all a happy and safe holiday season. Peace and Love, Meg Aguilar, CMT 510-872-9909 my schedule: Mon, Wed, Thurs @ Dr. Bruce Jacobs 3510 1/2 Ocean View Blvd. Montrose 91208 now available for outcalls for a $40-50 fee (depending on location) incalls available in my back studio in Boyle Heights Tues/Fri/Sat/Sun my ongoing specials: $25 off on your birthday week $20 off if you refer a friend $10 off if you take the time to review me on Yelp.com https://www.yelp.com/biz/meg-aguilar-cmt-glendale-3 thanks for your continued support! http://megaguilar.massagetherapy.com/

Thinking about my older clients past and present, and the ones who have crossed over. I too have danced for elders. This is too beautiful not to share.

I am including moxibustion for immune support in my bodywork treatments. Moxa is a mugwort stick long used in Eastern Medicine for preventing sickness and clearing dampness from the body and lungs. My regular schedule is Monday/Wednesday/Thursday at Dr Bruce Jacobs Chiropractic office in Montrose. Next week is pretty open since I had to cancel a trip. Anything you can do to boost your health right now is important. High doses of Vit C, taking zinc, ginger, lemon, echinacea,... juicing and getting plenty of rest. And massage for circulation and immune support! Message me to schedule an appointment. Be well See more

March Newsletter The importance of stress management for health and disease prevention I recently returned from my first real vacation in many years. While on my trip to Mexico, I spent 2 days soaking in mineral hot springs, listening to birds, swimming and daydreaming. That's it.... Allowing the body to rest and recover is essential for your health and longevity. It is the opposite of "fight or flight" or the sympathetic nervous stress response. Cellular function and longevity suffer when exposed to prolonged stress - it literally is pre-maturely aging people and contributing to chronic diseases. Stress hormones have specific effects on the body which include increased blood pressure, narrowing arteries, weight gain, Type II diabetes, suppressed immune function, insomnia and depression. Research and data now proves that the effects of massage therapy decreases cortisol levels, the stress hormone that can wreak havoc on our bodies. We know how good we feel when we receive a massage; our endorphines are flowing, we have increased circulation, improved range of motion, etc...but now we know it actually improves health on a cellular level by reducing the likelihood of chronic disease and increases longevity! What better investment for you and your body? Wishing you well, Meg Aguilar, CMT 510-872-9909 * please note my upcoming travel dates: March 16-24 my schedule: Mon, Wed, Thurs @ Dr. Bruce Jacobs 3510 1/2 Ocean View Blvd. Montrose 91208 now available for outcalls for a $40-50 fee (depending on location) my ongoing specials: 1/2 off on your birthday week 1/2 off if you refer a friend $20 off if you take the time to review me on Yelp.com https://www.yelp.com/biz/meg-aguilar-cmt-glendale-3 thanks for your continued support! http://megaguilar.massagetherapy.com/

A note of thanks.. I am grateful for this life, and for my mother who raised me to be a strong independent woman. She was a natural leader, a great story teller and sharp as a tack. She was a history buff and a bleeding heart liberal. The first lesson I remember her teaching me was to treat others as you wanted to be treated yourself. To have respect for all living things. She worked hard as I do now. She encouraged me to follow my dreams even when I thought I wanted to be a ...figure skating champion, or dancer, or musician. She said "spread your wings" even if it meant to move 3000 miles away from her. These last 10 years were difficult. She had lost her husband and isolated herself living alone, not socializing much which was not like her. It was a slow motion suicide. She became depressed and dependent on alcohol - I tried everything I could to help her. This last September I flew back east while she was in the hospital and she passed with me by her side. This experience was beyond words and I'll never forget it. All of my years as a hands on healer allowed me to be her guide. Since then I have felt her presence, and had many dreams of her in her younger, more healthy state of being. I also found a treasure trove of pictures in her house when clearing it out, including this gem that I had never seen. To me this is her at her finest; supporting me and showing me the world. And to you, my gentle reader, client, friend... I thank you for your continued trust in your pathway to healing and better health. I am also here for you if you need to talk about depression, substance abuse, and caring for your family members. There are many programs for seniors, women in need, and those less fortunate and alone. I learned a lot from this experience and am happy to share in whatever capacity. Happy Thanksgiving to you ~ Sincerely, Meg Aguilar

10 YEARS IN SOUTHER CALIFORNIA!! It was a big move. The thought of starting over in a new city when you are middle aged is DAUNTING. I had lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for 19 years, longer than I'd lived anywhere else. I had many friends, had gotten married, bought and sold a home, and had a solid massage practice with many regular clientele. My husband got an opportunity to move to LA with his work but with the financial crash of 2008 his company decided not to expand... the business. We had already decided to make the move and had to make a big decision. Now without the work, we would be moving with no income, no health insurance, no safety net. We could stay and play it safe. We had steady income, lots of friends and everything was familiar. But this was part of the issue. It was too much of the same... too predictable. I didn't want to grow older in a place where I felt there was nothing left to offer me. We wanted to progress as human beings and there was a feeling of stagnation. And if you've ever been to San Francisco in the summer time.... there are scarves and hats involved. I missed summertime weather. On a trip to LA with our band, some of our musician friends sold us on the idea of moving south. The weather was better, there was a thriving music scene (many musicians were fleeing SF because of the rising rents) and it seemed more conducive to our lifestyle. So, I made a pros and cons list, consulted the oracle, and we cashed in our 401K. 2009 was the year for a big change! My husband got a job as a tech and tour manager for bands and was immediately on the road. I on the other hand, was stuck waiting for my state massage license to come in before I could work legally. I spent those first months in Glendale fixing up our apartment, making new friends, and learning the lay of the land. I found all of the free concerts, attended art openings and hit the beach as much as I could. I fell in love with Los Angeles. 10 years later... my massage practice is busier than it ever was. I own a home and a rehearsal studio with my husband Tony and started 2 new bands- Alma Sangre where I was able to infuse my flamenco performance, and now All Souls which recently took us on an arena tour. That decision to take a big leap was the key to my current success. I am going to that because it was one of the scariest things I've ever done. It's not easy to start from scratch but sometimes it's necessary! Wishing you well~ Meg 510-872-9909 my schedule: Mon, Wed, Thurs @ Dr. Bruce Jacobs 3510 1/2 Ocean View Blvd. Montrose 91208 now available for outcalls for a $40-50 fee (depending on location) my ongoing specials 1/2 off on your birthday week 1/2 off if you refer a friend $20 off if you take the time to review me on Yelp.com https://www.yelp.com/biz/meg-aguilar-cmt-glendale-3 thanks for your continued support! http://megaguilar.massagetherapy.com/
