My favorite way to add flavor to my chicken with out adding cals is to cut half of an onion on top of the chicken while sautéing to infuse the chicken with easy low-cal flavor. So get prepping !

Some healthy tips to help get the RIGHT fats into your diet! Try grilled, steamed or baked salmon, instead of fried or breaded fish. Choose lean cuts of meat and remove visible fat before cooking. Limit your intake of red meat to 2x week- red meat is high in saturated fat which can increase your LDL (the bad ) cholesterol. ... Choose low-fat or fat-free dairy products. Better yet go for the Greek yogurt to get more protein in which can help with curbing hunger as well. Top salads with nuts or seeds instead croutons. Our favorite salad topper is pumpkin seeds, they are a good source of magnesium, which can increase insulin sensitivity! See more

Following up on nutrient deficiencies with metabolic syndrome. Vitamin D There is evidence that vitamin D deficiency may contribute to insulin resistance, which is the precursor to clinical diabetes. This may be due in part to the fact that excess body fat makes vitamin D, which is stored in adipose tissue, less available for use by the body.... Vitamin B1 (thiamin) Thiamine is essential for glucose metabolism and insulin production by pancreatic beta-cells. Vitamin B3 (niacin) Nicacin lowers total cholesterol, lowers blood triglycerides, increases HDL cholesterol and inhibits the oxidation of LDL cholesterol - all important risk factors in metabolic syndrome. Vitamin B6 (pyroxidine) Deficiencies of vitamin B6 can induce abnormal alucose intolerance. Vitamin B6 has also bee shown to reduce blood pressure. Co-ensyme Q10 Co-enzyme Q10 is powerful antioxidant that may reduce blood pressure, protect arteries from oxidation of LDL cholesterol and significantly decrease atherosclerotic plaques. Since metabolic syndrome increases the development of vascular disease, the heart protective benefits of Co-enzyme Q10 are crucial.
