At the heart of what I love about photography is that it allows me to connect with people and within that exchange I get the positive of having my life enriched by others. I got to meet @sheismichaela this year and saying she’s had an impact on my life is kind of an understatement. I got to see parts of LA I’ve never seen, experience desserts I had only heard about and laugh and have genuine discussions at a time where for a lot of people it was tumultuous. She gave me insigh...t, wisdom and confidence. We all dream of having that person we can try lighting with, fail in setups and just go crazy. She pushed it, encouraged it and embraced it. I am not the photographer I was a year ago. In that time there have been lessons, experiences and continuing education that have elevated me to the photographer I am today. A year from today I expect to not be who I am today. What I love most about this change is that it isn’t always noticeable because we live it day to day, but we can see it in others who can see it in ourselves. @ana_montana for example is someone I saw the change with. We worked together last year and we g...ot beautiful photos and our connection and time was brief. Meeting her again this year was for me like two powerhouses coming together. She was focused, on point, variations and at the top of her craft. She knew and felt when the shot was right and our communication was minimal. We gelled, executed and moved on and towards the end she gave me this smile. I knew - more I felt from that smile that she was seeing the adjustment that I was not who I was last time we met. I’ll say it - I was definitely green, but this time I met her on the level we both were at and it felt..earned. Work without limitations. That’s how it’s supposed to be, but I find that I struggle with that and I have since high school. My mind works a bit more in the reverse. The more restrictions the more creative I get. I put rules on myself and I force myself to have to give more direction because I find it can be very easy to sleep on someone.
